3pt hitch question

I am wondering if it will damage my 3 point hitch system on my new holland hdro tz22 if I put some sort of link ( maybe a chain) to limit the dropon my hitch so it cannot go down. it will freely go up but just not all the way down. It appears the down motion is based on gravity and the weight of the attachements.  I want to limit the drop so one of my attachments cannot accidently drag the ground.

Are you trying to limit its drop when operating or parked?

Does your tractor have any limit controls for the 3PH?  It's commonly a knob on a sliding plate at your lift lever that can be adjusted to limit how far down the 3PH can go.

I don't see an issue with using a chain if connected to a solid location.  I'm not very familiar with the TZ but on mine, I would probably get a long top link pin for where the top link attaches to the tractor.  Run a chain around the lower lift arms (as far back as possible) and then secure to the ends of the new top pin.

BTW, what implement are you trying to keep off the ground?

How do you mean (please elaborate)?

I'd secure the chain to the lower arms with something to keep them in place.  Zip ties would probably work.  When lifting, the chains would get some slack but I think it would work.

Hey BZ,  I have a grass collection system that came off a JD that I modified to  fit to attach to the 3pth of my NH. I want to limit the distance down so the attached blower housing cannot drag the ground.   Also do you have any recommendations to increase the RPMS from a standard 540 PTO on the implement ? I.e. gear reduction done backward so to speak?

OK, I hopped on a TZ this weekend.
I had forgotten that the 3PH is a up/down lever only and doesn't have a limit stop.  It doesn't appear the lever/linkage on the left side does anything for the 3PH and it's for the MMM only.

Would a simple marker help?  Have something like a steel or fiberglass rod on the blower that points to the tractor.  When you see it reaches a certain mark on the tractor, you know you're in the correct position.

I can't think of anything off my head for changing the gear reduction.  How much faster do you need to get it going?  Does the blower have a gear box only or is there any belts in there?  If there's belts, changing pulley size can easily change the speed.
