help with fitment and 3 pt question

    Hi,

I am in the process of buying a new Kubota 3030 cabbed tractor.  Locally this week there is an auction where a guy had three different tractors and one is an older compact Kubota.  Will all 3 point implements fit all 3 point tractors?  There is a Snow Master 6' blower, and an Elm Wood log-splitter that I would be looking at, both are 3 point.  The bad thing is I would be sending my dad to this and he knows less than me about it.  What does Cat. 1 and Cat. 3 mean?  Any help or values on these two items would be appreciated.

little tractors like the Kubota BX 23 series are a sub compact and limited cat1 3pt. I have a Kubota L48, which is much larger and is a cat 1. Tractors larger, are cat 2 and much larger are cat 3. I had a Ford 5000 that was cat 3, it was also a pretty good sized tractor.. a cabbed 3030 is a regular cat 1.. I can't remember the specifics but the balls that the pins attach to are different sizes also,, cat one I believe is the most popular with 25 to 50 hp compact tractors,, Your dad can ask at the auction if they are cat 1's.,. At least someone there should be honest enough to tell you up front.,

Even if they are the right category that does not mean the will fit. There are some 72" blowers that would be way too big for a B3030, others will fit. You really need the guidance of a dealer who knows about the equipment that your looking at. You can't rely on pin sizing. For example, you can an 84" rotary mower with CAT1 pins, but the the mower is bigger and heavier than some CAT 1 tractors that are out there. It would be a huge case of the tail wagging the dog.
