    GC2310 Tramsmission Noise

I have just purchased a used MF GC231  with just 32 hours. Everything works fine and I am very happy with the tractor. I have noticed, however, that there is a perceptible transmission whine from time to time. Is this cause for concern? There is some warranty time left.

Whine from a hydrostatic is normal. They all do that. If you hear grinding, then be worried.

The whine is probably just from the transmission being hot and the oil looses some of its lubricating power. I own a 1975 Ford LGT 190 lawn and graden tractor it has a front blade and when used in a lot of back and forth motion the transmission can whine from getting very hot. When that happens it looses some of its power and can be slow to respond. I would keep an eye on the fluid and add some when necessary and follow all maintaince procedures and change fluid when necessary.
