    The Orange Turtles

Well, would imagine it could happen with any machine ~~~~

This week, a friend of mine was in the market for a side-by-side vehicle.  He shopped around looking at what the market had to offer .....And talking to him, he said the RTV was to slow for his needs, making smart remarks and calling the Kubota RTV's orange turtles. Several men just sitting around and talking, I told him he should think about what he wants, he said his needs are for use for hunting in the winter., and something he could play on in the summer months if he wanted to.  And the last thing he needs is a orange turtle, don't care how strong it was ~~~~~

So his decision was a Paloris Razor ~~~~

After two days of ownership, he stopped by and was talking about his machine, telling him if he was happy, I was happy for him  ~~~~ still " knocking on the turtle " !!!!

Day Three of ownership, he was " showing his ass " with the new Razor, and folks say he was really flying with that new " hunting machine of his " ~~~~ Then it happened, he started flipping, they don't know exactly what really happend, but during the accident, he lost his left ear, skin on his jaw, neck , and cheek was torn off.  He spent over 4 hours in surgery them trying to attach the ear back on the best they could. Still has to have some more work done to the side of his head.

Made a trip to see him, and the only thing he could say to me was, " SHOULD OF BOUGHT A DAMN TURTLE " !!!!!

My remark was: ( friends can do say this ) " THAT'S RIGHT ELEPHANT MAN !!!! ~~~~~~~ he winked, and tried to smile !!!!

Glad the guy is okay. Those Razors are impressive looking machines. I don't know why someone would buy one for hunting though, I think its only real use is simply going as fast as possible.

I never thought I would be so proud to have a turtle.Last time I had one I guess I was about six.I never thought I would have one this nice though and this  orange one doesn't bite either. I agree they are slow but I would remember how fast a turtle can cross a hot road in August. Today my orange turtle pulled a mineral trough on skids {low range} about a mile and never cried. This was about 500 lbs on  oak skids. My former machine would have started some belt smoking but not this one ,no sir, no trans belt here!!. This is a labor saver for me and maybe a lifesaver too !! 2089  work hrs and still a proud owner... Bordercollie.....and   my best wishes to Two Guns friend

       bordercollie,

Thanks for the kind words ~~~~

**********    2089 hours, no doubt about it, that is working that machine. You have more hours on a RTV,  than anyone else I know ..........  You've done got the " goodie " out of that unit, and bet it's has a lot more life left in it !!!!!!  Does your machine seem to be as strong now as it was when it was new ?

Two Guns,I believe my '05 RTV is  just as  strong or maybe even stronger . Much of what I consider strong is just me learning how to handle it.I wouldn't have been able to move that trough in High . The transmission seems to shift better and better... again because I have learned to use  it. If it is hard to change gears, I just turn the steering wheel hard to the side several times sharply or just pump the brake and it will usually shift out easily.I think this relieves the pressure some. Sort of like the old model open cab JD tractors we keep around. I still have issues with the rattle on the front drive shaft and will do the "fix" when I replace this worn one for the second time. This is still a great machine and  I really depend on it to do my work.Still  doesn't smoke after cranking and ;after all said and done, I  would definitely be inclined to buy another when the time comes. The time I had the rear wheel ujoints replaced {April ,I believe} I used a  tank of gasoline in the truck and didn't get half the work done as I would have with the RTV using a tad of diesel. The payload is indeed smaller but the benefit of quick  access and carrying just what I need is truly "all  I need"And by the way, my RTV is sort of like the general store for farmers---every thing but the kitchen sink is on there .....Bordercollie

    Two Guns...

Sorry to hear about your friend and his flip. I find it interesting that he was kidding you about your turtle when his machine wound up on its shell like a .... turtle.

     Two Guns,

I sure hope that your friend is up and about soon. An accident is a hard way to learn that speed is not the answer.
