    I never noticed this before

Over the weekend I installed driving lights on the 900 and when I tested the view at night I noticed that the battery light would come on when I put the park brake on. Is this normal?

w2hat kinda lights did you install and how many? if you put to many they will suck the battery down and the light will come on because the rtv 's idoling and not reving up enough to have the alternator put out enough. doe the light go out if you rev it up? and your battery could be goin dead check it too.

I just put two 55 watt lights up top that I bought from the Kubota dealer. Next time I,ll try revving it up and see what happens.

    Thanks, bruce

Re: I never noticed this before

thats probably what happening your rpm's are dropping too low on the alternator output  and with headlights/two 55 watt lights and your brake lights on all at the same time  your pulling alot out. i don't know how much a rtv alternator puts out but  your pulling probably pulling close to 275 watts out of it with just all them lights running plus it's trying to chagre the battery at the same time so that puts it over 300 watts of juice . then think about the engine it takes atleast 150 watts to keep it running.

another question is do you turn on them lights right after starting it up?if so that could be why too it's best to run the motor for a few minutes just to let it put back the juice in the battery you just took out to start it up.it not to good to fire up a motor and turn on alot of electrical stuff right away.exspacialy on a deisel because it draws more out of a battery to start it than a gas engine.

I noticed that the battery light would come on when I put the park brake on.

This statement is what confuses' me. You set the parking brake, and the battery light comes on . Does it go off instantly when you release the parking brake ? Are you sure it's the battery light coming on or the parking brake light .  For if the battery light is coming on when you engage the parking brake, from the factory, they might of put the parking brake light into the battery light socket ~~~~ hope I'm makin' sense here.

Other than that, I don't know what would make the battery light come on., for I'm run a big GoLight, two big tractor lights in the front, two in the back, and the headlights, all running at the same time, and never had we had battery light show up. That being said, it could be like 'ole Tommy stated, the belt might be loose, or the alternator is not putting out ..... Keep us up to date with this thing, kinda got me twisted ~~~~~~~~

Check to see if by the off chance , that the parking  brake light bulb has come out of its place and is maybe illuminating the battery light as well. This has happened to me before....just stuck it back in it's place and solved my  extra light problem. Sometimes I have also had my key stick so that the glow plug s stayed on! Bordercollie

you know bordercollie that happened to me to on my hpx. i never even thought of that . in my case it was showing the tempature gauge evrytme i turned the lights on . that might just be the problem.

I was just hoping for an easy fix. When the bulb and socket  came out of the mounting bracket on mine it looked like I had a dash light.under there. I do believe it would be hard for both to be illuminated unless the other had come out too. to allow the light in. But was just hoping. Bordercollie

For an update on the battery light coming on, all it takes is the park brake to be set with or without headlights on. I forgot to rev the engine and see if the light would go off. I'm trying to get the time to take it in to the dealer for service and have them check it out.

I finally got it in for service and it was a bad fuse that was feeding back and causing the light to come on. Glad it was nothing serious.
