Strengths Engine has plenty of power.
Weaknesses A lot. We have had to replace 3 spindles in 2 years. 4 belts. and 2 sets of blades. This is a very expensive machine to keep going. I want to sell it. We bought it because of the name as the older models were very good. Tires all went flat had to put tire inflator goo in them. No traction at all. Gauges, does not cut even. Does not turn very good, uses to much gas. Why have the lights come on every time you start it? I want my 15 year old Simplicity back. Very unhappy. Will never buy another cub cadet product. When asking dealer if they have had any complaints pf course they say no but when I read the blogs many people have the same complaints that I do.
Overall Dislike machine would only recommend to a enemy/

Strengths Powerful, great engine, starts quickly. Cuts lots grass fast. Can pull heavy loads. Cruise a good feature.
Weaknesses Poor deck and belt design. Turf tires have no grip in damp grass or muddy areas. Tow bracket is weak.
Overall Great for cutting grass. Towed a five foot finish mower to the side and mowed over nine foot at a time. Deck design wears out blades and the belt fast and they are pricey to replace.

Overall seriously...what are you people doing to this machine? I mow 6 acres on a steep hill...usually when grass is wet...and have none of these problems. You must be ramping this machine or mowing trees. I have not had one of these problems

Implements : 54" mower

Strengths Pwerful engine, comfortable seat
Weaknesses I was so frustrated with this mower, that after 1 year I sold it and bought a Kubota. I had numerous problems with the deck wanting to come off. The rear roller came off numerous times, the deck is hard to take off, unless it was falling off. The grease fittings are under the deck, which is stupid. The motor needs to be choked every time you start it. The headlights are a joke, and the traction in wet grass is horrible.
Overall You could not give me another one of these tractors. The kubota I bought is 1000 times better.

Strengths engine power is very good. never has bogged down even in really tall grass.
Weaknesses the PLASTIC 5/8 hex bushing at the end of the steering column broke and fell out after 1 year of use (80 hours). this 2 dollar part fails and disables the steering completely. POOR ENGINEERING. THIS PART SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE OF OIL IMPREGNATED BRONZE AND DESIGNED TO LAST THE LIFE OF THE TRACTOR!
Overall OTHER THAN THE STEEING PROBLEM. ITS BEEN A GOOD UNIT.

Strengths
Weaknesses After two years of frustration and nearly $500 in repair expenses, we have finally determined the cause of vibration, belt problems, wear on the center hole of the drive pulleys, and grooves worn in the center bolts of the 54-inch mower of our Cub Cadet GT1554. What we learned was quite astonishing. It turns out that some of these mowers were assembled with center bolts that were too long; consequently, there is not enough threading on the bolt to allow for sufficient clamping force of the pulley/blade assembly. Although it is possible to achieve adequate torque of the nut on the bolt, in reality, the nut is “bottoming out” on the threaded portion of the bolt. And, while it seems that the blade is fairly tight, whenever the mower is required to cut somewhat heavy grass, both the pulley and the blade can actually spin on the bolt. This situation is easily evidenced by the wear pattern on the bolt at both the top (where the pulley spins), and at the bottom (where the blade spins).
As expected, customer service technicians at Cub Cadet were quick to refute and discredit this theory, claiming that we probably were using the wrong bolt for the specific mower. However, after checking and rechecking all part numbers, and by simply taking the entire pulley/bearing housing/blade assembly to the dealer, and showing how the threading is insufficient once the nut is properly tightened, their only comment was, “Yep, you’re absolutely right!” (Incidentally, when asking the dealer for an opinion and for some guidance throughout this entire problem-solving struggle, their only answer was in the form of an accusation of operator abuse.) Once the dealer admitted to Cub Cadet that our theory was correct, the discussion with the service technicians at Cub Cadet was ended, and the problem was remedied by adding two washers. We added one washer at the top, just underneath the spacer next to the pulley; and, one washer at the bottom, just below the blade. Needless to say, the mower is running smoother and cutting better than it ever has throughout the two and half years of use.
Now, the proper thing for Cub Cadet to do is to send out a recall notification to all owners who registered their GT1554 tractor—that were assembled with a ¾ by 7.18-inch center bolt—and to have them take it back to the dealer for inspection and repair, including the proper washer installation.

Strengths Stromstrong motor. chage oil every 25 hours . I mow about 10 acrea a week every week.
Weaknesses spindle assemblies are not too good. I have gotten 3 assemblies in 4 days and all of them are bent from the manufacture. the hole for towing implements is very flimsy poor craftsmanship
Overall not to happy about the mower deck. everything else so far is okay
