Strengths great mower

Weaknesses deck pulleys need grease fittings,goes through belt every two years poor welding on decks they are spot welded

Strengths Reliable work horse, that has never failed me yet. Incredible transmission that is far superior to the very week transmissions in my current John Deere D140 and X300 series mowers. Until you move up to the John Deere X500 series tractors, the Deere's are rather lame. (Transmission wise)

Weaknesses Poor deck paint. Pealed after 11 years. I guess it's not that bad after one decade of use.

Overall Never has failed me, in the 350+ hours of use so far. Original deck belts, and blades. Only sharpen blades every year, with the yearly oil/air filter change.

Strengths Always starts

Weaknesses Sheet Metal Rust if you have a Snowblower (Wish It was Plastic or fiberglass

Overall Excellent Lawn mover mine is a 2001 2186 with deck and snowblower, The snowblower works awesome !

Strengths I have owned my tractor since fall 2005. Purchased new. It is a good stable tractor and has plenty of pulling capability.

Weaknesses The deck is the biggest weakness as I have destroyed three belts with less than 70 hours of mowing time. The availability of accessories such as plow and other implements are non existent.

Overall I would not purchase another Cub Cadet. Although the pulling capability meets my expectation the lack of a slip hitch at a reasonable price and other accessories makes the "Garden" portion of this tractor not practicable. It is a "Lawn" tractor at best but with the poor deck design it is not suitable for that either. My next tractor will be either John Deere or Kubota.

Strengths

Weaknesses The deck is pure junk. I have welded it several times, but now the deck piece itself must be warped because the deck belt rubs on one of the deck hangers. The engine backfires badly when shut down.

Overall Good tractor, terrible deck.

Strengths Everything. You will not hurt the transmission pulling things. It is wide enough to be stable on hills. It turns fast, seeing how it has such a large deck. And the ride is the smoothest of any mower I have ever owned.

Weaknesses Some cut grass lays on the deck and you have to blow it off. Not a big deal, really

Overall I really love my Cub Cadet 2186.
