Strengths Goo';';';ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
Good Power, Reliable Comfortable.
Weaknesses
Rear Tires Slip easy, Sometimes the Carb acts up but always starts. PTO eat's a belt now and again, just make sure you put it on right. Keep it greased and clean and it's the best tractor for the buck anywhere. I bought it with 45 hours on it for 1500.00 with the 42" mower, trailer and rear bagger and I beat the crap out of it. It's a hoss.
Overall
Great for the money, Wish it had a wider mower and the rear bagger didn't clog so easy. Other than that I go through trees, ruts, mud, you name it. Just maintain it right and keep it clean and you can't hurt it.

Strengths bought used with 30 hrs on it....now has 45 hours...it is easily the best tractor I have ever owned...I have 2 acres and with the 18hp ohv BS engine it will literally fly over the ground with a great cut (42"). My land is partially wooded and I am always cutting trees down and hauling the chunks in my metal cart...oh the power! I read approx. 300 reviews with most people complaining...before I bought this and as I suspected there is a conspiracy going on.
Weaknesses tires spin easily on hills...no other problems...I luv my Cubbie
Overall just buy one...do not listen to all the BS

Strengths Pleanty of power, tight turn radius & serviceable tranny.
Weaknesses Eats PTO belts every 10 hours. Cuts uneven and Cub doesn't stand behind their warranty very well. Loses traction on uneven ground very easily. Needs taller back on seat and longer slide on seat base. Area Cub Rep. could care less about the customer.
Overall I bought this new and it's been a problem since day one. I would have to think very seriously about buying anything again thats made by Cub/MTD. When it works it works very well.

Strengths starts easy, quiet, love the hydro, I have many trees etc so alot of back and forth mowing.
Weaknesses Everyone should learn how to disable the deck kill switch in reverse. Cheap hitch. Mine also hunts, sputters and dies on occasion but seemed to get better when I used drygas. Has trouble maintaining traction on uneven ground. Plastic bushings on hydro forward/rev shafts failed. No lube on any deck shafts or steering points. Bone dry new. Steering pinion failed for same reason. No grease. Maybe it was a Monday.
Overall Love that hydro & shaft drive.I'd call it average but then I've still got a JD 174LT in the barn too.

Strengths Very strong built mower body and deck wise. Makes a very nice cut
Weaknesses I agree that the seat needs to be taller and go back farther for tall people. The major problem on mine is the 18hp vanguard motor. 3 years old, 3 summers in the shop. 1st year was a valve guide that dropped down into the motor and bent a vale stem. 98 hrs on this motor, practically brand new and all this trouble!
Overall I would not buy another cub cadet. this mower could handle a 48" deck but they short you with a 42" deck and for the money you should get the bigger deck. The motor, most I talk to say the vanguard is a good motor, guess I got the lemon. My performance rating below is based on when it runs.

Strengths The engine I have over 1500 hr on this vanguard v-twin,the transaxel and hydro pump bdu 10-L takes a filter and hold 7 qt in the transmission, heavy duty, heavey duty stering arms like no other lt,That I have seen.I use this tractor for my lawn service,I cut mostly in the mountains, and has served me well. very easy to work on. also this should be called a Garden tractor, because this tractor has a graden transmission, just put on bigger rims and tires and you have a Gt
Weaknesses I would say the seat could go back a little for us tall folk.bigger gas tank, bigger deck
Overall This tractor is built like a tank,Also it's made in the USA!

Strengths Seems to be a solid machine. Starts easy and mowers nice when running. Bought it because it is shaft driven
Weaknesses Bought new in July 2005. Been back to the shop 3 times. Carb seems to be problem but dealer can't find the problem. Engine starts to hunt then dies. starts right back up but very aggervating. Has problems with long grass (8 -12 inches) needs three to four passes to get it done right.
Overall Given the problems I have had in the first 25 Hrs, I am not sure where the shaft is driven. Not suitable for my purposes. I cut 2.5 acres and my old Bolens QT 16 does better.

Strengths This is a very reasonably priced tractor with bigger machine features,v-twin vanguard engine, throttle with seperate choke, elctric pto,hydro-trans with filter.Been dreaming of a John deere my whole life but in this size machine JD doesn't COME CLOSE!Plus it comes with a mulch plug I haven't raked since.greesable deck
Weaknesses Not many, cup holder is to small, maybe a bit more aggresive rear tires they spin easy which i think is worse than more bite.I would like a 46 inch deck over the 42 it has enough power for it.all this is petty really!
Overall I have a small yard, but lots of trees and saving time mulching leaves is huge time saver over raking. My wife says its the best money ever spent.I just bought a house with 2 acres and I am confident it will get by until I can upgrade to something bigger.Time or lack of it is my biggest reason for wanting to upgrade!

Strengths frame, quality, garden tractor parts in a lawn tractor, commercial grade vanguard b&s engine
Weaknesses 42" deck(cant have it all for 2g
Overall I'm convinced cc is the best bang for the buck.everybody knows 4-5 grand buys a really nice deere or simplicty.this machine is built like a simpilcity CONQUEST OR 300 series deere.you can still get one for 2400.00 engine is same one on 4500.00 simplicity.i prefer the steel hood. looked at a deere l120,and it is good bfb ,but .. look at the deeres crappy weld job on front deck mount.
