Strengths No engine problems

Weaknesses PTO bolt, deck cracks, cut quality, keeping deck clean, hood beginning to wear from vibration, have never mulched successfully

Overall On start of 3rd season with 70HRS on mower, the PTO bolt snapped. Luckily the PTO was not damaged and I got the stud drilled out at a machine shop (1HR Labor). I also replaced the drive belt for the first time since I had the engine off. I am currently on my 2nd deck belt. I would recommend replacing the PTO bolt every season or at 50HR intervals. It is a Grade 5 7/16 X 3.25". Also, the starter will not work if you get it wet. Once dry it should be OK.

Strengths Starts easy, cuts well, sits comfortably, and my son can operate it.

Weaknesses none so far

Overall I have read a lot of reviews on this mower, from what I can see Cub needs to cull its stores. I bought mine from a local dealer. The deck was leveled and the blade path was checked before the delivery man left my house. He checked to make sure it would work right for me. I am starting my second season with it, and have no doubt I will make it through many more.

Strengths Tight turning radius,a flawless cut and a very comfortible driving position.

Weaknesses I think the Kohler engine seems loud.Maybe its just me.

Overall Do not buy a lawn tractor from a box store.I looked at cubs there and the hoods didnt fit,the decks werent level ect ect.Those of you with turning problems,grease those fittings.I dought the 17 year old who prepped your tractor did.

Strengths im still trying to find them

Weaknesses this is a zero turn tank 48" just not one good word to say.where to start i went with a 48 for specific reason.the deck clogs up not kinda but full to the point clippings ride on top of blades under deck and turn to liquid. i have lost track of how many times i have had this thing to dealer.bottom line last time was get this "im cutting the wrong type of grass".that came from the owner of the dealership.forget help from cub its not there.i love to read about deck wash option,check your blades after you wash opps there destroyed.well hey i can mow about 1/2 acre then its plugged.it does cut good in a drought cause there's no grass!i'm not even going into the hydro problems.and cooling of hydros.and the scalping and the digging from casters .BOTTOM LINE IS DONT GET ONE .this spring we are going to cut deck apart to try a new design.maybe i'll just throw a deere deck under it.if your wondering i get about 10 hours on a set of blades.grass melts them away.i have thought about taking it to corp head quarters and just giving it back to them the machine is of no use to me.

Overall GREAT I CONCURR WITH RICK BUY FROM A DEALER YOU BUNCH OF IDOTS ! THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU. THE UNIT IS PROPERLY SET UP WITH A DEALER. GO TO ANY MASS THEY DO NOT HAVE A CLUE. THEIR MACHINES ARE PUT TOGETHER ON FRIDAY @5PM FIGURE IT OUT !

Strengths I Have the Cub Cadet LT1042. Engine runs strong and cuts well. No major problems yet. Had tractor for three years before had in shop.

Weaknesses Turning radius, hard start at first when cold.

Overall Not a bad tractor so far for me. Tractor would not start at 59 hours. Took to shop said somehow fly wheel key broke. With repair and complete tune up cost me $180 dollars. Can't complain about purchase price. Old lady bought it from lowes 3 months before I got it. Said gas pedtal hurt her foot cutting grass so she returned it. They sold it used to me for $1,300.00.

Strengths Starting, reverse mowing option, oil changing

Weaknesses PTO kicks off after 3 seasons, leaves streak of uncut grass in center, lowes exchanged mower and did the same on new one. Bagger is a lot of work to keep up. Deck removal and cleaning is not that easy.

Overall Would do more research next time and buy a grasshopper 100 series but you will pay substancially more.

Strengths NONE

Weaknesses Nothing but trouble since i bought it. Both deck spindles have been replaced, the blades constantly fall off, and the PTO clutch just went...the tractor has 15 hrs on it. Lowes dropped the line and now the closest dealer/repair is 1 hr. away, and even they speak poorly of the cub cadets.... I would pay somebody to take this POS off my hands. I wouldn't even buy a TOY cub cadet tractor. Im off to buy a John Deere.

Overall DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM CUB CADET.

Strengths Comfort, including seat steering wheel. Forward and reverse with ease of foot controls. Mows in reverse without diengaging the blades. 4 wheels on mowere deck. Routine maintenance fairly easy including oil changes, battery,fuel filter, deck removal etc.

Weaknesses Grade 5 bolt in PTO failed!!!!! Steering shaft at lower end completely failed!!!!! Deck cracked at attach pt. Touchy safety switch on foot brake while starting. Poor design on Transmission belt removal.

Overall After I realized that the two steering rods were put together wrong and that is what caused my PTO bolt and PTO to fail along with my steering shaft problem, I am not writing off the Cubby yet. I totally blame the person that put my mower together. I switched the steering rods to the opposite side and had all the clearance that I needed to make my turns to there full capability. Weaknesses This mower is the most unreliable POS I have ever owned. I have had this mower in the shop more than my lawn. Cub Cadet should be ashamed to even put this piece of junkon the marker. I am so paranoid everytime I mow I am waiting for another piece to brake. The mower is now in the shed waiting for a new PTO. this machine has less than 50 hours and I have had it in the shop 5 times in three years.
