Strengths looks good, oil system good, ez steering, hydrostatic power.
Weaknesses cuts like crap no matter what you do, uncomfortable seat, belt breaks at least once a summer, starter sticks,ignition switch stuck in the off position. weak power up hill.
Overall Over all I kept it. but would never buy another one.

Strengths Looks nice, tranny works perfectly, deck wash, Kohler engine
Weaknesses Gas consumption
Overall I am on my 5th season with this mower and the only things I have done is routine maintenance - oil, filter, plug (once, deck level& grease fittings. The belt still looks good after 5 years and has never gave out. I bought mine from an actual tractor dealer. is there a difference between a tractor dealer and a box store? I know the John Deer's at the box stores are pretenders.

Weaknesses To put a drive belt on a LT1024 has to be one the dumbest engineering non user friendly task to to. Its a prime example of cooperation's throwing a product out on the market with out proper checks. The drive belt installation should take no effort and no tools like my old model 2000 series. This was a machine that was designed for one purpose only. Cooperate Profits only with out customer care ( Drive belt installation )
Overall Nice looking tracker. Not very fast. Very slow. I was also wondering why the brigs motor was stopped being used. Some came with brigs and some with kholer. I'm on my 5th drive belt. The belts themselves are made as cheap as they can get them.

Strengths I love my LT1042! I have had it since 2004 and have not had a single machanical issue. NONE!! Love the deck and the cup holder for my favorite beverage.
Weaknesses When using the bagger it does clog sometimes when I am mowing a taller or damp grass. Also, it has a low back seat...come on Cub Cadet go with the high back!
Overall I love the power of the engine and the overall performance of the machine. I use this machine at least once a week on about a 1/2 acer. It is definintly a mowing machine. I would recommend this cut cudet to anyone looking to purchase a rider.

Strengths Engine 9kohler 19HP) starts easy, and runs well.
Weaknesses Only used it 35 hours over three seasons, on flat & gradual slopes, and have broken three cutter deck belts. Longish grass means a strip of unmown grass in the centre of the cutting deck, and longer grass just bends over and misses the blades. Need to reverse over long grass to cut it. Brake pedal too high for cofortabel and safe fast access to brakes.
Overall Not impressed with mower. Definately faster and better than the old 11HP Rover Rancher I had, but cut is not as effective.

Strengths I like it all! I don't know where these guys are finding all the problems! Plenty of power, great cut, no belt replacements, smooth operating, great little lt!
Weaknesses Wish I had of bought it sooner! i really wanted the Gt-2542 w/ the shaft and v-twin. Maybe in a fews years! My dealer had both and this fit my budget.
Overall Great machine, no problems, third year of service. I don't know where others are getting these problems, unless they are not properly maintaining!

Weaknesses What is with the starter motors on these machines?
Overall I just replaced the 2nd starter in 3 years on this machine. The 1st time was covered by warranty. After 2 years,I had to replace it again. Talk about a do-it-yourself nightmare, this machine is one of the worst I ever owned, Nothing is easily accessible. I should have known that buying an MTD product was going to be a nightmare.Their engineering staff over there is the worst. NEVER BUY A CUB CADET.THESE MACHINES ARE GARBAGE.

Strengths THE MOWER STARTS VERY EASILY. IT IS A SHAME KOHLER COULD NOT MAKE THE WHOLE MOWER AND LEAVE CUB CADET OUT OF IT ALL TOGETHER.
Weaknesses THIS YEAR ALONE I AM ON MY THIRD DECK BELT AND SECOND DRIVE BELT.MY LAST DECK BELT BROKE WHEN I WENT OVER A MOLE TUNNEL. I USED MY LITTLE HONDA TRIM MOWER TO FINISH MY ACRE PLUS YARD AND RAN OVER PLENTY OF MOLE TUNNELS WITH NO PROBLEMS. WHAT A SHAME.
Overall I DO NOT THINK THAT I COULD EVER RECOMMEND A CUB CADET PRODUCT TO ANYONE UNLESS I DID NOT LIKE THEM AT ALL.THIS MOWER HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A DISAPPOINTMENT.I HAVE BEEN SEEN TOO MANY TIMES PUSHING THIS HUNK OF JUNK INSTEAD OF RIDING IT.

Strengths Hate this thing...Trading it tomorrow for a 1050.
Weaknesses The deck vibrates like crazy, won't hold adjustment, throws belt, hydro trans has gone out twice, deck wash is horrible. Frame twists when traversing uneven terrain and it lacks power to pull steep hills. What a deplorable machine!
