Strengths Nice ride...good steering
Weaknesses This mower has been a nightmare...two center spindles with less than 50 hours. Cheap springs break on pullys. Motor backfires when shutting down. Very loud
Overall I would never buy another one of these ever again. I just wish I would have seen these reviews before I bought this POS...

Weaknesses This machine is such a rip off. I have owned Cub Cadets for the last 30 years. This one does it for me.
The belts either break or jump off. Today I went out to
mow. Made two rounds and engine dies. Will not start or even attempt to start.
Overall This has to be the worst model Cub Cadet has ever made.
I spend more time working on it than I do mowing.
And it has less than 10 hours on it. Will try to
return to Home Depot for full refund.

Implements : hay trailer

Strengths I have not had a problem with the belts : my dealer tells me that the problem arose when MTD decided to subcontract the mower and three versions of the mower deck were made: each with very slight differences in the belt length needed. So there is not one version of a LT 1045 belt - there are three ( or more now - that was for my model year, 2007). You have to go to a dealer and have them look up the belt you need for your specific model and serial number, which is located on the undersurface of the seat. It is economical with gas and has a large gas tank. The hydromatic transmission is smooth and powerful. The mower is powerful enough for tall thick grass without much loss of power. Tight turning radius. Comfortable for tall and big men ( I am 6'7", 280 lbs, not much fatigue after mowing for 2-3 hours). Drink holder. Can pull an 800 pound load - I haul 6 bales of hay on a heavy trailer twice a day with no problem or loss of power. Little vibration. Good brakes and tires. Attractive lines and color.
Weaknesses The Kohler Courage engine had to be replaced after 100 hr because of a large oil leak in the block. The new engine leaked oil from the valve covers and had massive backfires upon shutting the engine off: I assumed that it was from improper manufacture. Once it was torqued to specs give by Kohler the engine stopped leaking oil and the backfires stopped. It ran beautifully for 10 more hours and the starter will no longer engage. The wait time at my local dealer has been weeks and MONTHS in the past- probably because he is fixing everyone else's problems too. It is the loudest mower I have ever owned -to the point where I now wear hearing protection. It has a high center of gravity so you need to be careful mowing on slopes. Kohler also says NOT to mow on a slope greater than 25 degrees from horizontal along any rotational axis or else engine damage can occur. This fact in itself is a pretty serious design flaw for many homeowners.
Overall Chassis and mower : good. Engine : the worst I have ever owned or seen. The CEO of Kohler needs to talk to Jesus and ask for forgiveness, then apologize to their shareholders for sullying such a fine name with this horrible application of aluminum, then mail the owwners of these... -things-... a $2000.00 check to retrofit a good engine to the cub, and keep whatever is left over to buy whatever cool beverage the owner wants as penance.

Strengths I bought mine from Home Depot three years ago. That was a mistake. I could have bought it from a local mower dealer for the same price and gotten better service. I end up going to this dealer for service and he is nice enough to have taken me in although I didn't purchase the mower from him. I have had very little problems with thi stractor. I have never experienced problem with belts slipping or breaking like others here have complained about. I am still using original belts. Have 1.2 acre to cut which I think is about right for this type of tractor. Possibly others are doing more than this tractor was rated to do. problems I do have are listed below.
Weaknesses Deck Housing spring keeps breaking. Usally go through one or two of these per year.. ($6.00 repair)
Engine seems loud.
Bought rear grass bagger, but grass is deposited only in left bag. Right bag never gets any grass clippings.
Overall I am satified and would consider buying again, except not from a Big Box store. Cadet, like other manufaturere's "dumb" down the specs and build special models to make it cheaper for those stores to sell. Obviously, the consumer pays in quality of machine. Considering the amount of ground I own and maintain, this machine is a good match.

Strengths
Starts easily and runs great. Plenty of power and great ride.
Weaknesses I experienced the belt problem too, but I found out that if I engage the belt with the deck raised all of the way up, it doesn't jump off. Then I can lower it to whatever I want. I just had to remember to raise the deck each time I wanted to engage it. Haven't had a problem with it since. The bagger chute tends to clog up when you go too fast through tall grass, but if you speed it up all the way and go slow, no problem.
Overall Overall I rate this a good mower. No oil leaks, battery is strong, nice even cut.

Strengths When the belt stays on, it cut's nice
Weaknesses Deck belt slipped off first time I used it, thought maybe it was from trasporting it home, NO, slips off or breaks almost every use. Home depot doesn't sell belts anymore, have to buy online $30.00 bucks a pop. Biggest peice of junk would never buy Cub Cadet again
