Strengths Drives easily and smoothly. No power loss when going up hills.
Weaknesses I have only 27 hours on the machine. The biggest problem is with the starter. The magnets in the starter seem to freeze up too often causing the unit to fail to start without repeated efforts. I've already replaced the starter once and the new one just installed is already freezing up. Very frustrating.
Overall Overall the unit is fine, if it would just start each time.

Strengths Heavy gauge construction. Field tested components designed to last many seasons. Simplified mechanisms where they make sense (durability). Reputable sub-tier component suppliers.
Weaknesses Spare parts supply chain appears weak. Internet data availability is limited. Single cylinder engine has greater vibration/higher db rating than twin cylinder equivalent.
Overall For the price point, this model has very good overall value.

Review By : Cub Cadet on 09/14/2007
Price Paid : $1,699.00
Years of Use : 1-2 Years Use
Implements : Bought 05-2006
Purchased From : Home Depot
Strengths Engine runs well, seems to get from point A to B.
Weaknesses Belt continues to come off, put it on comes off again. I noticed this is common for most everyone owning the cub. Light has been broken since I bought it, short in a wire. Tires were very easily punctured. I changed four flats early on, never changed on old mower with same yard.
Overall I wouldn't but another one.

Implements : None
Purchased From : Independent Dealer
Strengths Seat is comfortable, large gas fill easy to use. Turning radius is great, good mowing if only taking a bit off the top. Deck is easy to remove (don't ask about putting it back). No problems so far (4 months of use) Deck is very heavy duty. Transmission easy to use.
Weaknesses 20 HP Koehler and deck is very loud - need ear protection, poor mulching of high grass, cruise control very poor. Putting deck back on is not easy. One call to factory support was not impressive! Have my doubts about water wash on unsealed bearings in deck.
Overall Has many good features compared to my old MTD rider. Mulching of moderatley high grass is very poor - leaves trails of grass. Very loud - should have come with ear coverings.

Review By : Never buy a Cub Again on 08/18/2007
Price Paid : $1,800.00
Years of Use : New Owner (0-1 Year)
Implements : None
Purchased From : Home Depot
Strengths Step through to get on and off the tractor is a plus for the wife.
Weaknesses Throws belts ALL the TIME. Had to replace the spindle once already. Now today the next spindle has gone. One of the pulleys looked like someone had stepped on it when they were putting it together. Did I mention it throws the belts all the time.
Overall My weedeater brand lawnmower, same as craftsman, that is a little over 5 years old never gave me a problem (except for one spring broke - $3.50 to replace) and still doesn't. The reason I bought the Cub was my wife could handle it better and the name. WOULD NOT EVER BUY ANOTHER CUB CADET AGAIN OR RECOMMEND ONE. Unless you want to park it in your front yard and put planters on it for looks.

Weaknesses Snapped 2 belts, replaced 1 spindle within the 1st 2 cuts. Cuts very uneven, baffle bent, now it is in the shop again (5 times) need 2 more spindles. Customer service is horrible, refuse to pick up the warranty
Overall I brought the Cub because of their reputation, it did not live up to their name. I would never buy another Cub or from Home Depot

Implements : Dump Hauler, Fertalizer, Bagger
Purchased From : Home Depot
Strengths Good looking, easy to take implements on and off, good fuel capacity, transmission is good, easy starting, deckwash for easy cleaning
(bagger $379, Hauler $225, Fertilizer $225)
Weaknesses throws belts regularly, orgional belt broke after 6 weeks, bagger chute clogs constantly, underside of deck is rusting. Did not cut smoothly as I expected
Overall If you are not planning on bagging this is a good reliable mower. Avoid if you are going to bag and have st augustine lawn
