Implements : just mower

Strengths Everything, good power, starts every time, belts don't seem to want to die so that they can be replaced, easy to lube spindles, even cut.
Weaknesses When turning tight corners at a high speed it tends to dig down a little on the outboard side of the turn, solution, slow down stupid. Problem is now solved.
Take of stupid spindle covers so you can grease them and throw them in the garage, the tractor is plenty wide so as not to get your feet in the belt, just get rid of them.
Overall I have a small lawn mowing business and this cub has taken one heck of a beating, put on 26 hours in the first month, doesn't sound like much but when you are covering 50 inches at a time it doesn't take long to get done. Have yet to have a single problem out of the mower.

Strengths Mower has plenty of power, simple design with easy to use controls and the high seating makes it feel like a "real" tractor unlike some of the others in the same price range. It cuts evenly and runs smooth with the blades on.
Weaknesses Keep plenty of gas on hand, it needs a lot of gas to produce the power it has. The hydrostat foot pedal could have been designed better and the shields over the deck pulleys gather lots of clippings, hard to clean out without removing the shields.
Overall Great buy for the money. I have 22 trouble free hours so far, mechanically solid. Just a couple poor design issues that are more annoying than a problem. Tractor looks good too

Strengths Handy controls, handles well, short turning radius, lots of power ( for mowing, not towing ).Easy on & off.
Weaknesses Drinks fuel like a camel drinks water, but maybe in terms of work done per gallon it also equals a camel, hard to measure this. Hard to clean under deck. Washout ports are useless, just make things worse. Front bumper also useless, be careful when approaching a building or tree. I don't like the high rpm idle speed ( what's up with that). Dealer says this is normal. Hydro pedal needs a re-design, hard to use as is.
Overall I'm into my 2nd year with this mower and, after 40+ hours, have had no belt, spring,or overheating problems. Just a burned out light bulb. Most of my complaints are with design problems. So far, reliability and performance have been good for a tractor in this price range.

Implements : Grass Catcher
Purchased From : Lowes
Strengths It has started without fail but this is only my 3rd season. Other than that I cannot think of any additional strengths considering what I would expect from a brand name that I thought had earned very reputable status.
Weaknesses low power going up hill. I mow about 2 1/2 acres with some incline on half. This mower struggles up hill, more so than I would expect.
Biggest weakness is it does not mow evenly. I have changed blades 3 times and it still leaves rows of uncut or poorly cut area. No way to resolve this. Also, I just paid 400 dollars for the cub grass catcher. It combined with this mower is JUNK!!! It just clogs up and you have to continually remove globs of grass creating blockage.
Overall I am totally frustrated with this mower and would never buy Cub Cadet again. Very poor cutting performance, weak up hill performance, belts slip. Even if I have to junk this one, I will go to a Deer or Kubota before next season. Will just wright this off to bad experience. If you are a Cub Cadet fan...good for ya...but I would never recommend this mower brand to anyone. If you are going to spend the money, it is worth a few dollars more to go with any of several other top brands available. Personally...I like green and yellow.

Implements : 50" Mowing Deck

Strengths Starts Easily. Mows well.
Weaknesses Overheats easily due to air plenum not preventing the fan from pulling up grass from underneath the hood instead of air from on top of the hood. No thermal switch to protect the motor from overheating after the fan is clogged. My engine seazed yesterday before I figured this out. A foam gasket on top of the engine would have sealed the plenum, a thermal switch would have disabled the ignition and prevented the damage to the engine.
Overall I've always liked the tractor and always maintained it well, cleaning after every mowing. I skipped the cleaning part last week and figured that I would clean it after I mowed this week. I did not check under the hood to see if the fan was clogged, my mistake but I only mow 1 acre, the fan was completly clogged and now the engine is ruined. 14 Months old, 81 hours of use. Should have bought a Deer...

Strengths Bought LT1050 a few months ago to mow 7 acres. Did a great job on brushy field. Then, had too many beers on beautiful spring day here in Kansas and took it into my 22 acres of brush and deep woods. Oh my, hit steel stakes, bent a few, mower deck slid over them, clank and sparks flying. Continued mowing through to my pond, missed driving in! Running through 1 to 2 inch seedlings, heavy thorns.... wound up having to fill my tires with "Slime". Other than that, still running great, just did 7 acres yesterday, and have a swath through my woods to walk through. I am impressed. So when will it breakdown like many of you say? Hmmmm. It did however get drink 3.3 gallons of fuel to do it.
Weaknesses Would like power steering, air, tilt wheel and more cup holders.. make that a cooler rack.
Overall I Gave it a real beating, and it took it in stride. Good machine.

Strengths Looks good, cleans up good
Weaknesses Deck belt wears way too fast and slips off under load. Service contract sounds good on paper but is horrible in real life. Hard to find places to service them. John Deere would probably have been a better choice.
Overall Cub Cadet appears to be doing exactly what the Sony Playstation 2 did when the lasers were defective and they ignored the problem and said tough luck, you'll just have to buy another one. And now they wonder why they can't tell any of their PS3's...we didn't forget how you treated us on the last unit. Why would we want to buy any future products?
Cub Cadet has the same situation if they don't start providing better customer support and caring about their customers instead of trying to sell the most units

Strengths Looks Nice
Weaknesses No vent holes in deck bearings. Install too much grease and the hubs lock up. Then you have to loosen the blade to let the prssure off. Drive belt is time consuming and difficult to change. Practically have to take the whole tractor apart. Also like everyone elses my drive belt spring flys off too. The belt jumps and chatters when driving up inclines. Had to replace one deck bearing already. Head light bulbs are not durable and burn out easily. Tracor drives to slow. Front bumber may as well be a pop can.
Overall Like everyone else I thought I did my home work when I bought this tractor. I have only had this tractor two years and I take good care of my stuff. This tractor is built cheap and was obviously not tested well before it was sent out to market. I have had nothing but problems. Also this day in age it should not take 2 hours to change a drive belt and it does. I feel sorry for you consumers out there who can't do their own repairs. This thing must be costing you a fortune. I wish I have paid a little more and bought a Deere or Kubota. And shame on you Cub Cadet for not responding to your customers that need your support. I'm putting mine up for sale and won't be buying any more cub cadets.

Strengths Since this is my first lawn tractor I don't have anything to compare it with. I did find that dollar for dollar the Cub offered more for the money. I bought one from another dealer and had a number of minor problems which they seemed unwilling to take care of. They charged me to come pick it up with less then 5 hours even when I asked them to do the first service while it was there. After some words I got my money back and went to another dealer who charged me 50 dollars more but when I had a starting problem (just a bad battery)he came to the house, picked it up and returned it within 2 hours with a "we're saorry you had a problem" and a thanks for doing business with us. I now have 5 hours on this "new" Cub and so far so good. I find it easy to drive and comfortable to ride. I mow about 2/12 acres around my house and another 2 acres edging my pasture with it and I love the hydrostatic transmission for ease of speed adjustment. If you buy from the right dealer I think you'll get your moneys worth.
Weaknesses This thing sucks gas worse them my Mercury Grand Marquis but the Mercury does a rotten job of cutting grass so I guess it's a fair trade off.
Overall As I stated so far so good. I do feel that the dealer makes the difference though. If possible buy from an independent dealer as they tend to give a damn if you have a problem.

Strengths Engine starts every time, even after sitting all winter.
Weaknesses No power for size of engine.Drive belt for trans came off very first time using.Blade belt comes off at least 2 times every time I mow (approx 1 acre).Belt problem still there even with brand new Cub belts.Blades dull very quickly from just grass.Cuts very unevenly and next to impossible to adjust so it does not leave strips.
Overall Took a lot of time and I thought good reasearch to make this purchase when time to replace old mower came.Biggest piece of garbage I have ever bought.Thought I was getting a good product from a manufacturer with a good reputation. They definately do not make them like they used to.Will NEVER NEVER buy another product from Cub Cadet.Would like to put it up for sale but I (unlike Cub Cadet) would feel bad selling this to anybody.
