Strengths Powerful, goes up hills quite well. Best mower for the price and has extra features other mowers did not have in is price range. 50 inch deck heavy duty with thicker gauge steet than competitors. Cuts well and has served me well for 3 cutting seasons.
Weaknesses Deck is not easy to detatch. backfires every so often when shut down. reverse mowing feature shuts off now and then when it is supose to be engaged.
Overall Good machine that I would consider looking to buy again if Cub Cadet equips it with 26 Hp engine instead of the 23 Hp engine it currently uses.

Strengths Dependable mower
Weaknesses Uses a little more gas then expected, a little more then a gallon an acre.
Overall I have put about 35 hours on the mower without any problems. I had an old 38" deck Deere and this tractor is so much better. I mow 2 acres and went from 4+ hours to just over 2 hours. The 50" deck always cuts level and never leaves a strip of tall grass.

Strengths Smooth power, very comfortable to operate, wide & level mow, easy maintanance, "Hydrostatic drive" transmition, all with NO problems.
Weaknesses no "authorized" dealer anywhere around. This hasn't been an issue yet, as I've had no problems. But maybe in the future...
Overall This mower is just great! The 26hp kohler engine is very smooth and quiet- plenty of power for me and the 50 inch deck. At 6ft and over 200lbs, I am very comfortable on this machine. The quality of cut is as good as my neighbor's "commercial grade" [and commercialy priced] unit. It's easy to lube the spindals and chassis, add fuel, change the oil, blades and filters. The deck drive belt is still going strong- at least another year or so before changing. The hydrostatic drive transmition is truely a pleasure to use- no more clutch and gears!

Implements : lawn cart, lawn aerator, dethatcher
Purchased From : Independent Cub Dealer
Strengths Smooth engine with good power, quick starting, easily modulated hydrostatic transmission, heavy guage mower deck, good ergonomics, even cut, washout fittings on deck are functional when used correctly(a good washout takes some time). Reliability. Nicely styled and fnished
Weaknesses Headlights should be switched at dash. Clear headlight facia captures dirt... no easy way to clean.
Overall I compared features, drivetrain and construction to a Deere before purchase. Only repair is a new throttle cable at 79 hours. Local Cub dealer is a plus...competitive with the chains, but more knowledgeable and easier to deal with for service.

Strengths Strong engine and ease of operation. Came with a 3 year warranty which I have never had to use!
Weaknesses Does drink a lot of gas......
Overall This is the end of my second year, I have 92 hours on my LT1050 and I mow approximately 5 acres at a time. This mower starts every time even after being stored for the winter. I clean it after every use and do the routine maint at regular intervals. I have never had any of the problems others have written about and would recommend it to anyone.

Strengths The 1050 provides a great cut,and mulches fantastic. The twin 23hp Kohler has plenty of power, even on hills. The tractor looks tight and sharp and is comfortable. Gas filler is large and prevents spills. Mows great in reverse. Comes standard with the mulching kit, very easy to switch out if you can't or don't want to mulch.
Weaknesses Seems to use a lot of gas, but cuts so nice I don't see it as a problem. The foot control is too narrow and going from forward to reverse is awkward at first, but you do get used to it. The headlights are always on. I wish the rear tires were taller, comes with 20" other brands of similar size tractors come with 22". You'd need to spend $500 more and go with the 1550 to get 22" tires. Not a big deal but taller tires would be nice. The "front bumper" is a joke.
Overall I performed a lot of due diligence before I bought the 1050. Overall this is a great tractor. A good value for the money. For me it came down to the 1050 and 1550. I like the 1550's extra features, but couldn't justify spending the additional $500. I'm happy with my decision. The few items I mentioned under "weaknesses" are more annoyances than anything else. I've cut 10 or so times and am vey happy with the tractor and the cut it gives you. I recommend buying from a Cub dealer. I see no value buying from the HD's and Lowe's. You'll get better service (free delivery and better knowlege of the tractor)than a large buliding supply chain. I have about one acre of mowable lawn with some steep hills and have had no issues. A good buy.
