Strengths Since this is my first lawn tractor I don't have anything to compare it with. I did find that dollar for dollar the Cub offered more for the money. I bought one from another dealer and had a number of minor problems which they seemed unwilling to take care of. They charged me to come pick it up with less then 5 hours even when I asked them to do the first service while it was there. After some words I got my money back and went to another dealer who charged me 50 dollars more but when I had a starting problem (just a bad battery)he came to the house, picked it up and returned it within 2 hours with a "we're saorry you had a problem" and a thanks for doing business with us. I now have 5 hours on this "new" Cub and so far so good. I find it easy to drive and comfortable to ride. I mow about 2/12 acres around my house and another 2 acres edging my pasture with it and I love the hydrostatic transmission for ease of speed adjustment. If you buy from the right dealer I think you'll get your moneys worth.
Weaknesses This thing sucks gas worse them my Mercury Grand Marquis but the Mercury does a rotten job of cutting grass so I guess it's a fair trade off.
Overall As I stated so far so good. I do feel that the dealer makes the difference though. If possible buy from an independent dealer as they tend to give a damn if you have a problem.

Years of Use : 1-2 Years Use
Implements : Mower only
Purchased From : Cub dealer
Strengths Engine starts every time, even after sitting all winter.
Weaknesses No power for size of engine.Drive belt for trans came off very first time using.Blade belt comes off at least 2 times every time I mow (approx 1 acre).Belt problem still there even with brand new Cub belts.Blades dull very quickly from just grass.Cuts very unevenly and next to impossible to adjust so it does not leave strips.
Overall Took a lot of time and I thought good reasearch to make this purchase when time to replace old mower came.Biggest piece of garbage I have ever bought.Thought I was getting a good product from a manufacturer with a good reputation. They definately do not make them like they used to.Will NEVER NEVER buy another product from Cub Cadet.Would like to put it up for sale but I (unlike Cub Cadet) would feel bad selling this to anybody.

Strengths power/performance/pride...looks sharp in the field and garage.
Weaknesses none so far. my buddy says cub cadet is owned now by MTD and the suck now.. i love my LT1050 now
Overall had to take the first two mowers back to lowes because they were junked out the very first day. think i started with theLT1042, that quit, then went back and got the 1045, that broke down, took that back and they gave me the 1050 and its been a super mower from day one. i really like it so far.just had me scared at first.

Strengths 26 HP engine, Hydrostatic drive, 50" mower deck,
Weaknesses Occasionally will leave strips when I mow, auto mower shutoff in reverse can be a nusance, puff of smoke (not oil smoke)when engine is started for the first time.
Overall I am amazed at all the negative reviews on this lawn tractor. It has given me absolutely zero mechanical trouble. I've had it three years, about to turn 100 hours and have never even had a belt slip off or break, no springs flying off, no trouble with getting into reverse, or anything like what I've read at this site. I do the regular maintenance stuff, clean off grass after mowing, keep good tire pressure, change oil/filter every season, etc. but after the last mowing in the fall I park it in my shed and forget about it. The next spring it's starts right up, no problem. I still even have the original battery and belts. Highly reccommened this lawn tractor.

Strengths 27hp was its only strength and it moved like a turtle.
Weaknesses Had 2 different mowers , started with LT1022 , it messed up so bad that i had to return it and was given the LT1050 which stayed in the shop instead of in the yard. It burned completely up and cub cadet warranty said it burned to the point that they would not cover.
Overall DO NOT BUY A CUB CADET OF ANY KIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR WARRANTY IS NO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strengths 26 HP Kohler has enough power, but that doesn't even matter.
Weaknesses Leaves Strips when I mow. Replaced the blades but no improvement. Top speed is too slow but who cares when it does such a bad job of cutting grass even at extremely slow speeds?
Overall I only have about 30 hrs of use on this tractor. All I know is that I bought it to cut my lawn and it does a VERY POOR job. No mechanical issues with springs popping off like other reviews. I would have paid more to get the quality that I thought came with the Cub Cadet name. I was wrong. Buy something else.

Strengths Powerful, easy to drive, nice hydro transmission control system.
Weaknesses Engine runs very hot due to poor ventilation. Has the metal enclosed hood of the earlier models of this series. Headlight bezel and underhood wiring melts!!!! Burns up mower deck belts very often. Lucky to get 50 hours on a drive belt.
Overall very poor would not buy again!!!!!!!

Strengths It does start up.
Weaknesses Blade drive belt keeps jumping off everytime I use it.This thing uses more fuel than my car. After only one year had to replace blades with normal mowing. Both head lamps went out.Forget about the factory helping you. This is absolutely the WORST lawn mower I have ever owned. PLEASE, take my advice and buy something else, anything else.
Overall I would NEVER buy anything with the CUB CADET name on it.

Strengths Very dependible, easy to use. Plenty of power. 30+ hours. Knock on wood no problems yet. Kids are able to mow with little effort. Love the hydrostatic.
Weaknesses Normal wear an tear. Yearly replacement of belts, oil, blades (if not able to be resharpend),inspect/replace plugs. Grease after each mowing/cleaning.
Overall Keep mower cleaned off after use, should last for years. Sorry to hear of all the troubles others have had. We love it. Can't seem to spend the extra for a green on when this one runs excellent. Never had to deal with Cub Cadet directly, but hope they would respond with a positive outcome to your troubles.

Strengths Nothing I wouldn't expect from a $2000 mower!
Weaknesses Every time my tire slips an extension spring on the drive comes off and then it won't go in forward or reverse. Dealer gives me the run around and Cub is no help. Not alot of muscle for a 26HP engine, but it sure likes the gas. Won't buy another Cub, rather have a Murray!
Overall Don't buy one
