Strengths good motor

Weaknesses deck poor design , belts break , cub should have never built this lower grade version because they cut corners & have provided a sub standard product. I,ve had nothing but problems with belts breaking. Dealer says they won't sell the 1040 because of the issues with belts. The fact that cub cadet made it is disturbing. (stuck with this piece of crap)

Overall I have had this machine since June 2009 and mow 1.75 acres once a week during the summer. Other than a wheel and wheel mount coming off of the deck, which I still have not fixed, and the deck height cable coming disconnected twice I have not had any real problems. The deck height cable was a little difficult to reattach but I fix aircraft for a living so it may be harder for someone with less mechanical ability. I certainly hope I get a few more years out of it.

Strengths Have had it for 3 years and it's been a work-horse. I need to get a new battery but that is it. The blades are great, engine is great, tires are great - I've never had an issue

Strengths i have had my 1040 ltx since 2009 have 23 hours on it the blades were hitting and the timeing was off so took the deck off and now my ignition bar for the deck is stuck in the middle and the pto cable just isnt right seriously i will never and i mean never get another pos cub cadet

Weaknesses Could not even cut my yard 3 complete times before the transmission went out. Then been waiting now 6 weeks and still do not have it back.

Overall Poor design and highly unreliable. had to reattach loose wires to get headlights to work. Backing up is extremely cumbersome. Would not recommend this mower at all.

Overall Too slow in everything (traveling,mowing,cruise) Would NOT recommend to anyone, especially the customer service a--holes

Strengths cuts evenly. worked great for 20 min. on the meter.

Weaknesses Should have a switch to turn the lights on or off.

Overall Not totally impressed yet. Mower was running fine and then came to an abrupt clunking in the engine and then lifted the hood to find oil sprayed all over. Left mower sit over night to find out that the oil had leaked out of the bottom of the engine. Brought back to Home depot and they exchanged it for a different one.(quite impressed) Took second one to a service repair place to have it looked over before starting. This one is working great soo far:)
