Strengths Most tractor stadns were filled with middle size tractors ( dairy farmer size ), up to 200hp , I dont think JD even had any 8000 series tractors on their stand . Strengths Plenty of horse power(Kohler 19). Most of my yard is on a 10 to 15 degree slope. Cuts great. Steers good. Confortable. I have 1.6 Acres & prob have to use it to cut 3/4 acres. I have used it to cut 2 neighbors yard last summer(Several times) when they had thier first children & one of thier yard is much steeper than mine, worked fine.

Weaknesses Not too impressed with the deck hanger system. I have had to place the cables back on thier hanger track twice, They tend to want to jump off if you let the deck adjustment slip out of your hand. Just now having to replace some deck pulleys, but I think thats norm wear & tear. Probably wouldn't have to if I didn't use it to mulch large piles of leaves. I would blame myself that, otherwise prob would stil be going.

Overall Very satisified. I bought it brand new in April 2005. I have 65 hours on it. My first new lawn tractor & I would recommend that year/model Cub Cadet. I do have to admit the newer models look more cheap for the same price. I did to my sister. She bought to Cub Zero turn last year & she has had to replace the starter on it. Not sure what model it is.

Strengths Blows grass from chute and it looks as if you mulched.

Overall Just bought this LTX 1042 and it cuts great. Nice even cut. It cuts great on my hill. It doesn't scalp the grass like the John Deere I had which only had two gauge wheels. It out performed the Craftsman I had by tenfold. I sent both the John Deere & the Craftsman back to the store because they performed so poorly.

Strengths I love this thing. I have had JD for many years and always had the turning radius of a Mack Truck! Now I can go around my trees with ease.

Weaknesses Mowing in wet grass up to my knees after vacation I broke a belt. Replaced with OEM belt and no more problems. I have made this mistake before, it may even happen again.

Overall Great tractor, great value, great dealer! Belt was 44.99 he gave me 10% off!

Strengths Bought lawnmower on 4/8/09 have 9.1 hours of use on engine. Cut on deck is great love turning radius great ride for money spent.

Weaknesses With 9.1 hours of use pto belt broke. Was cutting on a sunday could not find a replacment belt called dealer on monday was told belt was not warranty. Is a wear item. Only has a 30 warranty. Belt broke on 8/16/09

Overall Not pleased with belt broke. Unable to contact cubcadet and talk with anybody for help.No help from dealer when even purchased from dealer and had to buy aftermarket belt.

Strengths The cut is very clean and even. The adjustable seat is a plus. The turning radius is excellent. It also sits low enough for hills.

Weaknesses The engine is noisier than the Briggs on my toro but has much more hp. The grass blows out from under the deck. Why not a switch to turn off the headlight.

Overall So far I like it it cuts well a decent speed. Comfortable and easy to mow around things
