Strengths I bought an SRC 621 from a Lowe's store in Chesapeake, Va in the spring of 2002. I paid $429. The employee gave me %5 off. It still runs strong through thick, tall grass. The only thing I have done in ten years is change the blade, oil, and replace the carb. I've used it in a commercial application for 2 of the ten years. The engine is the best part of the mower. I'm giving it to a friend who is in need of a mower.

Weaknesses In the first year the self-propel system broke. I did not have time to fix it and being a tough, strong guy I just pushed it ever since. In the first year I also had to replace the front caster needle bearings. Year two the rear rubber flap fell off, the bolt holes broke.

Overall This has been the toughest, most rugged lawn mower I have ever used. I have done a marginal job of care and maintenance and it continues to start on1-3 pulls, 10 years later. I'm feeling genuinely sad to be parting with it but I'm giving it to a really good friend. The core of the mower (engine,deck constr) is very well built but the ancillary components are of cheap, inferior design. Needless to say, I've gotten my money's worth out of it.

Strengths The thing will knock down tall grass and pull itself through it! After reading all the bad press about this mower and just getting this thing, it sure impressed me on the first yard. It was seriously high (4' weeds) I fired that thing up and it chewed up those tall weeds big time!

Weaknesses The back 2 wheels are locked together-- is this right? Is a (*&^% to turn around like that. Need to see if that is a problem in the transmission. Was a killer to get to ther oil drain. Bought it for $50 from a homeless guy, replaced the carb & the drive cable -- it works so maybe if it is crap I still got a good deal!

Overall Lets see how long it lasts in my world. Will not fix it if it breaks after heatring the troubles others have had. It's too bad to bash a product from a major builder-- there has to be some good points. Lets see.

Strengths Has been a good strong running mower for me. I have gotten atleast 4 years of use out of it and When I say that I don't mean just me. Friends borrow it and use it to.

Weaknesses having trouble finding the parts. The engine is a briggs but I can't seem to easily find the parts online. The handle grip design.

Overall Great lawn mower and I would buy another. Although I did get this one for free from my nighbors who only had it a short time. They couldn't start it and come to find out it was only because the had like a vehicle spark plug in it. about $5.00 later and I had a great mower.

Strengths PPowerful motor - even if you cannot adjust the throttle.. Does not get choked on grass. Easy to turn.

Weaknesses Head gasket cracked. Known flaw. Mine lasted 3 years which was a comparative miracle. Cost me $100 to fix a known problem. Metal on plastic overall bad design. Cannot adjust throttle down.

Overall Will not buy another Cub Cadet. Overall design bad. Powerful engine in a cheap shell.

Strengths Works good for me, no problems, had over 5 years. Starts 2nd pull.

Weaknesses Somtimes rear wheel drive dont engage.

Weaknesses Blown head gasklet year 1 under warranty, broken handles year 2 $40.00, replace rear wheels year 3 $41.00, broken wheel adjuster year 3 will not fix. Clutch has never properly disengaged. This is the worst mower I have ever had. $459.00 of pure crap. I will never buy anything from MTD, who is the manufacturer of CC. Very dissatisfied buyer. Steve

Overall Had this mower for 4 years, no problems at all. Great engine, transmission still working like a charm.

Weaknesses Poor quality. Blown head gasket.

Overall Stay away. Dealer charged me $170 just for the spring service, and to fix a "warranty" head gasket.

Strengths Cuts and mulches OK when it is running.

Weaknesses After a year and one half of use the mower blew the head gasket. After it was repaired under warranty it was not only difficult to pull the starting cord it would also kick and almost rip your arm off. Moreover, nuts and bolts were constantly falling off while mowing.

Overall After paying $500 I thought this machine was a good investment. However, it turned out to be junk. I just bought a new TORO to replace it for $350.
