Strengths Kohler engine has performed very well and economically.
Weaknesses Stamped deck is a piece of crap. Used 2 1/2 seasons and have had to repair several times. Hanger bracket broke this past week and the metal was so thin I had problems welding it back on. The welds all broke on the scalloped blade guard and got tangled in the blades while mowing and it was a real pain to mold back into the original shape (or as close as I could get it) and weld it back on.
I agree with many of the other reviews that the rear tires are too small and I have to turn very slowly in order not to tear my yard up.
Overall I have had Cub Cadet's for over 30 years and have had realitively good luck; however, I am very disappointed with this machine and will be replacing it ASAP. With my schedule I do not have time to repair this machine as much as is required. The dealer I purchased the mower from rarely has the parts needed to repair and I wind up driving 20-30 extra miles to a dealer that stocks the parts.
I could not recommend to anyone that they purchase a Cub Cadet Z Force.

Strengths Flat, even cut. Easy to maintain. Strong frame. Efficient 20 hrs Kohler. Comfortable ride.
Weaknesses Rear tires are too small to do the job right. Replaced turfs with wider aggresive knobbys, but have to be carefull not to let wheels slip as will tear ground now. Deck should be thicker for machine this price. No towing bracket for yard trailer.
Overall I've had good luck with this machine. Cut 1/2 acre mostly sloping in 45 mins. No problems with engine, belts, hydro system, or cutting. For the money I think it is a decent machine. You could spend two or three times as much for Scags, Chopper, Bush Hog, or Exmark to get profesional machine, but why for residential yard. Previous mower was Cub model 108 that has been cutting familys grass for 37 years, and still being used.

Strengths Machine has good driving power and that's it.
Weaknesses Engine crapped out after one season. Drive belt and blade belts had to be replaced multiple times. Cutting deck is a piece of SHIT as the pulleys have siezed several times and I had to weld some steel on the front that fell off.
Overall Will never purchase a Cub Cadet again....can't believe I got such a pile of shit for the price I paid.

Strengths No problems with deck or motor. Used it to cut a field that was a foot high
Weaknesses back tires are to small. Looses traction and digs up the grass. Deck gauage wheels scalp the ground on hills and swales.
Overall Would be a better machine if back tires were larger. Disappointed considering the price i paid for this machine.

Strengths Good cut even at fast speeds. Great Kohler Command 20hp engine. Fairly comfortable and easy to operate with minumum practice.
Weaknesses Deck not very high quality. Have had to replace belt twice now and some rattles. Had Murray mower over ten years and have never had belt come off. Have used it for 2 seasons, beginning the 3rd now. Not really impressed with the deck problems for the high price paid.
Overall I'm fairly satisfied with the mower, it does a good mowing job and pretty easy to work on, luckily I'm a mechanic, so it's not that big of a deal to me to keep fixing it, just thought I was buying a quality machine for the high price paid.

Strengths Fast, powerful engine, very rough ride of ground that is not perfectly smooth. Easy to access oil change & filter. Mow the entire acre on 1/4 tank of gas. Kohler Command engine, a good engine for sure.
Weaknesses The rear tires are so small they do not grip the ground at the rear of the machine. When turning they break loose (low ground speed) and tend to tear the grass away from the dirt. Deck has always had problems with pulley alignmment and frequent belt replacement (1 or 2 per year). I will do away with machine next year. I'll buy a machine that will not scalp the turf (in the highest deck position) For z turn machine this is a real dissappointment. Steering linkage has lots of slack and after 2 years (mowing 2 to 3 times per week 1 ac.) this machine is sloppy. Not a good value, too many problems. Deck wheels cut into ground and tear up the turf in turns when dealing with slopes and swales. Very hard to get deck leveled ( not as easy as manual makes it sound).I have had a John Deere tractor 25Hp,425 and I use it for pulling yard equipment around and snow removal. I have yet in 700 operation hours done anything to it except oil, filters and gas.I will be getting rid of Cub this coming spring and buying a John Deere Zero Turn.
Overall My first and last Cub Cadet machine. I was told that this was a quality machine, such a poor experience. I wish I could brag on this unit but it's just not up to par.

Strengths Fast, powerful engine, confortable to ride & use. Easy to access oil change & filter. Mow the entire acre on 1/2 tank of gas. B&S engine, a good one for sure.
Weaknesses The rear tires are so small they do not grip the ground at the rear of the machine. When turning they break loose (low ground speed)
and tend to tear the St Augustine grass away from the dirt. Deck has always had problems with pulley alignmment and frequent belt replacement (2 or 3 per year). Two dealers have backed away from it and I'm stuck with a machine that I will do away with next year.
I'll buy a machine that will not scalp the turf (in the highest deck position)
I'll buy a machine with a deck that is not STAMPED AND PROPERLY SUPPORTED. For z turn machine this is a real dissappointment. Steering linkage has lots of slack and after 3 years (mowing 42 weeks per year 1 ac.) this machine is sloppy. Not a good value, too many problems. Deck wheels cut into ground and tear up the turf in turns when dealing with slopes and swales. The service people at C C tell me I dont know how operate a zero turn machine and suggested that I put plastic bottles in the driveway 20 feet apart and practice weaving in and out of them.
Overall The two dealers close to me do not stock parts I need and require pay in advance + freight. Service after the sale is not satisfactory.

Strengths Substantial power from the Kohler Command 20, easy deck removal, easy to reach grease fittings, large fuel tank. Excellent mower for moderate to extreme residential use. Great cut and lawn striping ability. No mechanical issues after 2 years and over 60 hrs.
Weaknesses No weakness to report.
Overall If I had to purchase all over again the only thing I can see that I would do different is get the Z-FORCE 50" for extra cutting inches. I have referred Cubs to many other individuals. GREAT MACHINE!
