Strengths Fast, powerful engine, very rough ride of ground that is not perfectly smooth. Easy to access oil change & filter. Mow the entire acre on 1/4 tank of gas. Kohler Command engine, a good engine for sure.
Weaknesses The rear tires are so small they do not grip the ground at the rear of the machine. When turning they break loose (low ground speed) and tend to tear the grass away from the dirt. Deck has always had problems with pulley alignmment and frequent belt replacement (1 or 2 per year). I will do away with machine next year. I'll buy a machine that will not scalp the turf (in the highest deck position) For z turn machine this is a real dissappointment. Steering linkage has lots of slack and after 2 years (mowing 2 to 3 times per week 1 ac.) this machine is sloppy. Not a good value, too many problems. Deck wheels cut into ground and tear up the turf in turns when dealing with slopes and swales. Very hard to get deck leveled ( not as easy as manual makes it sound).I have had a John Deere tractor 25Hp,425 and I use it for pulling yard equipment around and snow removal. I have yet in 700 operation hours done anything to it except oil, filters and gas.I will be getting rid of Cub this coming spring and buying a John Deere Zero Turn.
Overall My first and last Cub Cadet machine. I was told that this was a quality machine, such a poor experience. I wish I could brag on this unit but it's just not up to par.
