Strengths BRiigs and Strattemn Engine

Weaknesses A front tine is less work. You have to bull this thing in line unless you are tilling through alrady wel tilled soil.

Overall I had a Tory Built 8 hp Horse, after 25 years of hard work I wanted to have it rebuilt but Troybuilt sold out to MDT and NO ONE know how to work on Troybuilt. I bought the Cub Cadet could on the advice a local dealer. A big mistake. Look at a Honda.

Strengths Power. Easy Start & use.

Weaknesses Freakin Transmission. The first unit I purchased Thursday 4.22.10 (Serial #: 1C100K40155) kept popping out of the 'REAR' tine mode. This happened every 30-45 seconds. I returned it and received #2 on 4.23 (Serial #: 1C100K40152). Started the unit after work and it was a monster for the first 10-15 mins. Chewed up everything...until it popped our of 'REAR' tine mode. After the initial failure, it repeated itself every 2-3 mins. After 15 mins I shut it off. I spent more tine cleaning, loading, and returning this unit than I have using it.

Overall If Cub Cadet / MTD could figure out what the problem is with the transmission (and fix it) I would be happy. However, having two (2) seperate units fall in 2 days - I will not purchase another Cub Cadet RT-65.

Strengths Power: More than enough to chew through anything. Starting: 1-pull & it will start.

Weaknesses Transmission: Very hard to shift. Kept popping out of 'REAR" Tine mode into 'Forward'. Returned to dealer & he replaced the unit. Was told that once it goes, there is no adjustments. Dealer (NorthShore Outdoor in Kingsville, OH) very good about replacing. No issues. Wheels: Never able to 'grip' the ground - just spin & fill with dirt/mud.

Overall My initial thought was "I liked my front tine tiller better". I returned the damaged unit this morning (4.22.10) but have not yet had a chance to work the replacment unit. I thought Cub Cadet was suposed to be the top product on the market. Jurys still out.

Strengths good engine

Weaknesses transmission is hard to shift constantly jumps out of gear and tendency to get stuck and hard to get back in gear

Overall took first one back got a replacment it had the same problem i thought cub cadet was top of the line but seemed like junk to me i was very disappointed

Weaknesses Bought new in 2000. Used 5 out of the 7 years and the transmission failed. New transmission/with housing costs more that the purchase price!

Overall Unit worked good until transmission failed. I don't feel I got my monies worth out of it.

Strengths Powerful motor. Cut's thru the hardest ground like butter.
