Strengths Bought it to work in places the big tractor can't get in. Excellent tractor. Highly maneuverable, powerful, and intuitive to use. Four-wheel dive is very effective. I have had to get it sunk to the axels to stop it. Hydrostatics and trouble-free. It is also extremely fuel efficient. I find myself making excuses to use it instead of the big tractors. Would recommend it to anyone needing reliable power in small packages.

Weaknesses Very Minor. The horizontal Oil filler wasn't a great idea. Seat mounted cut-off switch can present problems. A neutral switch or a warning buzzer would have been better. Greater raise distance on 3pt would have been nice too.

Overall A great machine.

Strengths I replaced an old Power King 1614 with the JD 4010 because I wanted another small tractor. The 4010 has plenty of power and will spin the tires before it boggs the engine. I like the Hydro when working dirt. Actually the Hydro is good all the time. I didn't think I needed 4wd, but I've used it quite a bit since I got the tractor. I'm disappointed JD has discontinued the 4010 this year. It was a great tractor that probably wasn't sold right.

Weaknesses Too many things can get damaged underneath. They need skid plates to protect the steering, fuel bowl and linkages. The front end is too light.

Overall Great machine. Would buy another.

Strengths Power Steering is SO nice. Hydrostatic transmission is very responsive. PTO Selector allows Mid, Rear, or Both to be engaged. FEL operation is smooth, though a little slow. MMM produces a very smooth cut, and will cut as fast as the tractor will go. Tiller - This tractor runs the 48" wide tiller just fine.

Weaknesses Rides kind of rough, though I may have too much air in the tires.

Overall Considering it is the smallest tractor in it's class I found it be everything as advertised, and everything I need to maintain my 16 acres of yards and woods. I am very pleased with this tractor overall. I have had it for just over 1 year and have 220 hours on it with zero problems.
