Strengths The tractor has a lot of torque and will get any job done that I have used it for. It starts easyand has been very reliable.

Weaknesses It smokes a lot when it is started. It is a white smoke. The dealer told me that it was normal. I have had an antifreeze leak from the time I took delivery. Found out todya it is a flaw with a gasket in the block and they have torn the motor down to repair it. It is not a good situation for a tractor with 300 hours on it. John Deere has not been very helpful getting it resolved.

Overall It is a great tractor until the antifreeze leak. John Deere cusotmer service has not been very good. It has been in the shop for 5 weeks now and I still do not have it back.

Strengths good power, smooth hydraulics, very reliable

Weaknesses smokes on start-up and revs high -- was told it would do that when I purchased( gotten used to it )-- fuel gsuge erratic but replace under warranty

Strengths Good Power, Good Hydraulics, Hydro transmission has been a good choice

Weaknesses Excessive smoke on startup, Hate the high rev every time it starts, Cruise will not work in reverse (a pain with rear blower)

Overall A nice looking and functional package. I wish the factory would address the weaknesses listed above. I understand the new tractors don't rev or smoke as bad on startup but the changes can not to be retrofitted to the early models.

Strengths Just bought this tractor. Put 6 hours on it last weekend using the cutter. No problems, plenty of power. Haven't used the loader much but seems to be strong.

Weaknesses The only thing I was disappointed in upon delivery of the tractor was the bucket that comes with the 400x. Seems small/lightweight. However, it is a QA so if it doesn't hold up I can opt for a heavier bucket.

Overall Very pleased with the tractor, looking forward to spending more time on it. It is a joy to drive and feels like a big toy.
