Strengths I had a 4600, with Curtis cab, and traded for the 4520 cab, with 400 loader. Does have more power, and like the cab. There are a lot of improvements over the 4600. "However"
Weaknesses This tractor from day one, has a noise and vibration in steering column (1500 to 2000RPM). Dealer had tractor for 3 weeks replacing both hydraulic pumps, and trying to get advice from Deere tech support. Mechanic determined there is air in the hydraulic system. Deere is now telling dealer this is normal, tell customer to live with problem. I can see now, Deere's attitude is: (ignore problem, customer will go away).
Overall This tractor has been blessed with a kinked fuel line, oil leaks, anti-freeze leaks, a Delco radio that buzzed, (replaced with a Jensen), and hydraulic problem, in the first 6 months. Dealer has been told to fix it or replace it. I doubt either will occur.

Strengths Tractor is state of the art. Very easy to use and powerful. Quality is above most other producers. Very forgiving when you make a mistake. Fit in finish is the highest quality, and support from the dealer is 10 plus.
Weaknesses Only change I would make is the locking loader device should be changed as I bump my leg and lock it not meaning to. Other than that is is without question the highest quality for the buck.
Overall Finish on a John Deere is the best I have seen. I wax my tractor and keep it in a heated garage. Other brands seem to have a paint quality that is soon to fade and get dual. The deere cab is 360 view and heated with air standard. I use 6 gal of fuel in 8hrs. so it is cheap to run. Most of all my dealer is 100% willing to take care of any problems.

Strengths Bought the 12x12 PowrReverser. Great power and turns on a dime. I mow about 30 acres in half the time as with previous tractor. The PowrReverser is really superb and used much more than I expected both with loader and mowing our hilly farm which has no square fields or corners anywhere. Easy on and off. Easy to operate. Easy to service. Very fuel efficient. Everything I expected and more. Yes, you really can remove the loader in 3 minutes, wouldn't have believed it if hadn't done it myself.
Weaknesses The "self-leveling" 400CX loader makes hauling full buckets of gravel a bit of a nuisance as you spill and dribble gravel with every bump and slope along the way. Would like to be able to tilt the bucket back a few degrees to prevent this, but can't. Haven't found any weaknesses with the tractor.
Overall Seems perfect for the jobs I have to do and the size of the area to be maintained. Looked at several other brands and features, and think I made the right choice. Next July I may wish I had bought the Cab model, but for now, am very satified.

Implements : MX5 brush hog, 6 ft Frontier finish mower, post hole auger
Purchased From : Fish & Still, Henderson, TX
Strengths I have the e-hydro version. Short turn radius! This tractor is strong yet maneuverable. I use it for mowing about 6 acres of yard and for brush hogging 40 acres of pasture. I sold my 4310 e hydro (which I loved) because I was pushing it to it's limits. This 4520 does not bog down!
Weaknesses I've had it for two weeks and am having a problem with the thermostat. It it always a little towards the red line, no matter how hard I work it. After 10 minutes it's over the half way mark. It's under warranty so I'm sure we'll get it worked out. The bucket does seem a bit too small for it's power.
Overall She's a keeper!

Strengths Purchased tractor with ag tires, two sets of rear wheel weights, ehydro, 400X loader, rear hyd. remote, load match, and cruise control options.
Tractor has tons of power, for its size. It pulls anything we hook up to it. Runs the loader with ease. 4 wheel drive is esy to engage, and close at hand. tilt steering and moveable seat are great options. The pedals are easy to reach, though it takes some geting used to haveing the brake pedal on the left side. Loader attaches in less than a minute. Tractor has a very small turn radius, and manuvers very well in tight places. Easy to fuel and change oil and filters. Have over a 100 hours on it so far. Falling deeper in love with it each use. great
Weaknesses (1.) 400X loader is to "light" for this much power. When lifting heavy loads i hear make creeks and moans from the loader frame. The bucket is also to light. Needs to be made heavy duty. (2.) Wheel weights DO NOT fit this series correctly. the weights were made to fit the compact 5000 series which is a bigger rim. We went with the weights becuase we have had bad luck with loaded tires on the farm and in the long run loaded tires would be more expensive. Speaking of which, the rear tire had a slow leak right from day one. We ended up having to put a tube in it after 20 hours of use becuase we got tired of putting air in the tire everytime we went to use it. (3.) Had a bad fuel gauge sensor fr
Overall Very satisfied with this tractor over all. I keep reminding myself, that for the work i am doing and expecting out of it i should have gone with a 5000 series version where many of the weaknesses i listed would not be a existant.
