Strengths Agree on that, would be a struggle to rmmeeber seeing some onion or potato gear there I can never get excited one bit about dairy farming. Each to there own and they contribute loads to the NZ economy, but there is nothing that skids my wheels re being a dairy farmer..Was there any decent sized tractors? Quadtrack? Any large HP Fendts?

Weaknesses I'm upset. After only 130 hours of light use (yard is a little less than 1 acre), the tranny on my L110 fried. I talked with Derrick at Tuff Torq. He said what I needed to replace would cost a little over $400. For $572 he said I could just buy a new complete unit. Now get this... the new unit does NOT come with the 5W-50 oil in it that Tuff Torq (the creators of the unit) said it should have. He said John Deere dictates the "specs" and has Tuff Torq put 10W-30 in it! So the oil is going to cost another $30. I asked him about a warranty and they will warranty the unit for only 90 days.
Is this a scam and a racket, or what? Does anyone else feel like they're telling you to bend over and just take it?
This is so wrong on so many levels. Mankind should be our business, not making money off of inferior made products.
Anyway, I'm technically inclined but I don't feel like spending $400+ and the time required to rebuild a sorry transmission to begin with and end up doing something wrong. So I guess I'm being forced to just buy a new unit and oil and just hope and pray I get more than 130 hours out of it.
PLUS... the engine timer didn't work upon delivery and the delivery guy said that "I" could come by the dealership sometime and get a new one. The plastic gasket between the air filter and carburetor was crimped and letting dirt straight into the engine, the deck has never mowed evenly, and the cooling fan blades over the cheap transmission broke due to the bad design in the path of the belt.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Overall Don't buy a Deere. Their salesman says, "You should have bought a better model." The L110 is supposed to be for yards 3 acres and less. Overall, removing the house and driveways, my grass area is about .75 acres. I mowed it about every two weeks.
It's so wrong that just because I bought the "low end" mower and paid $2,000 for it that it isn't good quality. It's like buying a low end Lexus and not expecting it to last like the high end model.
It's wrong and should be criminal.
It probably would be smarter to just go to Walmart and buy a cheap mower. It would most likely last as long and you won't feel so bad if/when it goes bad.

Weaknesses everything about this mower is terrible. I paid over a grand for this tractor about 10 years ago. I take of it, store it inside and wash it off after each use. the paint is coming off in huge patches. the deck broke after 2 years. I just had a tension spring on the drive belt break. the part was only 9 bucks but i have to take the entire mower apart. the quality of this mower is crap. i've been using it on about 2 acres for the last ten years.
Overall worst mower ever

Strengths 17.5 Horse power is more than needed to mow 2.5 acres which is mostly hill. Smooth transaxle. The tractor has multiple lubrication points that help the unit last.
Weaknesses At the price point of this tractor I can not see one weakness.
Overall Over all I would recomend this tractor to anyone looking for quality and low price. I have well over 300 hours and have not had any of the issues some have stated. I do preform the preventative maint., Oil changes, lubricating the fittings and adjusting of the belts. I also do wash the tractor and clean the bottom of the mower deck. All I have had to do is replace the battery which is expected after 4 years at a cost of 29.00. I do have a spindle on the deck starting to make some noise. I have ordered a new one for 49.99. Moral of the story take care of your stuff and it will last. Use it every week dont change oil or maintain the deck and you have problems even with a 10,000.00 dollar unit. I expect to get many more years of service from this unit. My last 110 was over 30 years old and still worked great. soldit to a collector. Who knows mabye this one to in another 25 years.

Strengths Longtime users of john deere in the family. so I purchased one. I mow 2 acres. Liked the handling.
Weaknesses VERY DISAPPOINTED IN QUALITY OF THE MOWER. I HAVE HAD IT FOR ONLY 6 YEARS AND LAST SUMMER THE DECK RUSTED IT OFF, AND THE STEERING MECHANISM BROKE. I PAID 1200.00 I CAN NOT BELIEVE WHAT THE JOHN DEER DEALER TOLD ME THE PRICE OF THE DECK AND INSTALLATION COST. 850.00 ALMOST AS MUCH AS PURCHASE PRICE. SO BECAUSE I CANT AFFORD TO FIX IT I AM WRITING THIS IN HOPE SOMETHING COULD BE DONE.
Overall POOR QUALITY WORKMANSHIP AND MATERIAL.

Strengths Great engine (Kohler 17.5 hp).
Easy to operate.
Great fuel economy.
Dependability.
Weaknesses I have had no issues with this rider/mower in the 6 years I've owned it other than replacing the battery. It currently has 110 hours on the meter.
Overall This is an easy to use, dependable, and comfortable mower to spend a Saturday morning on. The price was right and the dependability factor keeps the cost down. Highly recommended.
