Strengths Not many strengths.
Weaknesses PTO clutch is a constant problem. I have 380 hours on the machine and I am on my third PTO clutch. The clutch is a major problem. John Deere need to provide dealers a kit to convert this machine to a manual clutch.
Overall Very Disappointed. Do not buy this product.

Implements : bagger
Purchased From : John Deere Dealer
Strengths Comfortable Ride, fairly quiet. Inexpensive.
Weaknesses Spindles did not have grease ftiings and went out, but replacements from dealer have grease fittings, so design is improved.
Overall I got what I paid for and am overall satisfied. Despite what some posts say, this machine is made by JD and I bought mine from a JD dealer, not HD or big box. Yes, the more expensive JD's are better built. Bought mine over 6 years ago for $2K when other JD's were twice as much. We have 2 acres to cut. I have over 600 hrs on mine and have not had a tranny problem, maybe I am lucky. I weigh 230lbs and am 6'6" and really enjoy the comfortable riding position and adjustable seat. Yes I have repalced blades, belts, spindles, batteries and wheel bearings, but that is expected.

Strengths Looks good, rides good and cuts grass well
Weaknesses Just after 350 hours I had to replace the trans and front end at our local John Deere Dealer. The dealer was great but the total cost was $1,013.06. This is after 4 years of use and just over 350 hours. I had a Craftsmen 12 horse mower for 15 years and only replaced the deck belt twice. When I purchased the JD I thought I was getting a better piece of equipment. Then to find out by reviewing consumer reports on the net, the trans goes out in almost every post. Not feeling good about John Deere Green
Overall Dont but this model or any model from Home Depot or Lowes. I looked at the John Deere X500 & X700 models at the JD dealer and they look much better and come with a 4 year Warranty.

Price Paid : $2,500.00
Years of Use : 2-Years
Implements : Bagger, aerator, dethacher
Purchased From : Home Depot
Strengths Easy to operate. Looks good and a comfortable ride. Good power.
Weaknesses Very expensive to operate. Light lawn mowing only and well cared for. Lasted 140 hrs. Had to have wiring replaced and bearing and deck rebuilt. So far over $1000 in repairs for a lightly used well cared for mower. Have to find a John Deere dealer to buy parts. Very expensive.
Overall Stay away from these machines. Do yourself a favor and pay a little more for quality.

Price Paid : $1,000.00
Years of Use : 1-year
Implements : none
Purchased From : 2nd hand w/440 hrs
Strengths Cuts very nice, turns tight, rides nice. This mower had 440 hours on it when I purchased it. I put a 100 hours on it in 2009 and it work well.
Weaknesses Had to replace bearings on the front wheels, but they have grease fittings and no problem. The transaxile is becoming week, will not pull heavy loads and slows down on hills. Has a total of 570 hours.
Overall Like the lawn tractor but do not look forward to replacing the transaxile

Strengths Inexpensive
Weaknesses Light-duty transaxle
Overall All the HD/LOWES John Deeres are made by John Deere in Greeneville, Tenessee. They are NOT made by Roper, MTS, or Arnold. They are not made in China or Korea. There is so much misinformation out there it is staggering. So many people believe this urban legend that Deere has started putting a big round sign on the steering wheel to reiterate this fact.
And before you say I don't know what I'm talking about, just let me say that when I TOOK THEIR FACTORY TOUR IN TN last summer, I was very impressed!

Price Paid : $2,300.00

Implements : snowblower
Purchased From : Home Depot
Strengths None
Weaknesses Everything - over $1000 in repairs so far and it still does not work. Now the seat switch/pto is shot, earlier it threw a rod and before that it died in grass over 3 inches tall. Most of the paint chipped off despite storage in the garage. Gas leaks. Have had 6 batteries since it is hard to start. Have to drive with choke on at all times or it dies. Shop can't figure it out.
Overall The biggest waste of money - do not buy any lawn tractors from Home Depot or any big box store because they get the lemons.

Price Paid : $2,100.00
Years of Use : 3+ Years
Implements : Snowblower, 48" deck
Purchased From : Home De Pot
Strengths Seems to just keep running, blowing snow on a 200 ft steep driveway and cutting 2 acres of hilly grass.
Weaknesses transmission belt stretches badly - an annual replacement part. Snowblower has no grease zirks and is a pain in the rear to put on. Does not like heavy riders - tranny slips after a couple hours mowing on the hills if you weigh over 180 lbs. Takes 5-10 minutes warming the tranny oil when it is below 0 F.
Overall Can't complain, given what i paid for it and where it is used
