Strengths Has enough horse power with the Briggs and Stratton Engine
Weaknesses Frount axle has broken twice, Transmission has been replaced. Frount wheels have bushings not bearings thay have been replaced. Spindles finally have grease zerts in the new ones, have replaced four of them.
Overall I believe that MTD makes the John Deere L series mower. Save your money buy a MTD.

Strengths So far it's run & cut great for the past 4 seasons.
Weaknesses None for me, does what I bought it for.
Overall Only have done regular maintence to date (oil, plugs). Replaced the mower deck belt this spring and the battery & blades last spring. The local John Deere store has been wonderful for add ons (soft top & bagger & blades).

Strengths I was very nimpressed for about the first five hours. Smooth cut. Impressive look
Weaknesses We replaced the belt about every ten hours. Replaced the battery the first season and had to replace the quills and blades at 120 hours. Replaced the wiring harness twice. None of this was covered by the warranty. We complained to the local dealer and John Deere. With 140 hours they offered $400 on trade in for a new one. Whoopie.
Overall I am in the market for a zero turn radius mower and farm tractor and not considering john deere. I would not recommend any model john deere when you can buy a murry for half the price and have fewer problems.

Strengths Go up inclines my other mower wont. Starts every time. Have over 200 hours on it. Easy to operate and leaves a great cut on yard
Weaknesses Had to replace spindels the 2nd set came with grease fittings. Steering becomes hard after first year had to replace all steering parts to get it back to normal.Replaced all pullies on deck and 2 on drive belt. Front axel broke in half last year. Parts are too expensive spent more money on mower than on my truck since we bought it.
Overall When working a great mower and cuts great. People like the way the yard looks after mowing. Just too expensive to maintain for the price of the mower.

Strengths It's a good lawn mower to cut grass and mulch.
Weaknesses unable to mow slopes (weights do not help nor tractor tires); transmission goes bad after 2 years. Under warranty, a lot of belt problems!!
Overall This has been the worst lawn mower I could EVER recommend = can you say "JUNK" I put more money into this than my own used vehicles. I would NEVER buy this model of lawn mower again. It mowes, but that is about all it does. When the warranty goes out, John Deere charges an arm and leg for repairs - especially labor!! RIDICULOUS

Strengths This is a great mower... for 200+ hours it runs great. I never had to replace anything accept the PTO belt and that's because I ran over a stick and it snapped the belt. I never had problems with inclines, I have used this mower for more than mowing, I have used it for hauling etc. But this is a great mower, if it was still around I'd say buy it!
Weaknesses If you don't grease the front axel at least once a month, it gets a little hard to turn.

Strengths Excellent cut quality (friends noticed who did not know I bought the L120 noticed after only 2 - 3 cuts!) Plent of power for tall grass. Just a pleasure to operate.
Weaknesses Deck is a little noisy. Gas tank location under seat is not that nice. Can be slow starting if not used for a few weeks (but always has started).
Overall Very pleased. Have used for two years and performance has been great.

Weaknesses Hard to start, stopped running after 6 hours use, front wheel fell off shortly after 8 hours (not installed properly during set up), mower deck hard to keep clean, LOUD,
Overall I should have saved $1200 and bought a Yard Man for $1000. It is hard to service the moving parts / steering, etc. The air filters are priced too high, and, with 100 hours, it is still hard to start.
