Strengths Colors (MAYBE!!!)

Weaknesses I've had the L130 for a little over two years. This is a piece of SHIT tractor. DO NOT BUY, I repeat, DO NOT BUY EVEN IF ON DISCOUNT! The worst tractor I've owned and I thought thr Sears that owned previously was bad enough. I spend more time under this junk fixing it up than mowing the 2-acre EVEN lawn. I beg all of you you, DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF SHIT. I want to sell this crap off, but am very hesitant to since my problems will pass on to another human being who does not deserve this piece of junk. Bottom line, I will run this into ground, then when it is dead, i will burn it in my backyard (I am allowed to burn stuff, thank goodness).

Overall AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS, people. This is America and we have plenty of choices to select tractgors from rather than bow in to JD.

Strengths Green Paint hides dirt well. Dealer did upgrade my new spindles so they can be greased. At my expense.

Weaknesses Mows uneven, haved owned it for 2 years and have had to replace blade spindles twice. I bought it from JD dealer and service is great but expensive. For what it has cost for up keep I could have purchased a much better commerical mower. Walmart quality and JD price.

Overall Look at better made model. This mower is a really low use smooth, level, small yard mower. If you have 1 to 4 acres, you will be taking this mower back to be serviced as much as mowing grass.

Strengths Reliable start up, Plenty of power, Good with wet grass

Weaknesses Catcher clogs easily, front wheel spindle wear.

Overall It's been a good reliable mower. 207 hours and still going

Weaknesses Where do I start. This machine was trouble from day one. I paid extra for the l130 thinking the kohler was a better engine. Big mistake. It filled my garage with smoke all the time, no wonder they dropped it for the lA series. JD said the smoke would stop after 20 hrs, then 30 hrs, no dice. JD finally decided to do something about it and replaced the pistons with a new design because oil was getting past the old ones. I tried to get them to take it back and credit me toward a different model, no luck. The fender deck was rusting from the underside, jd replaced it twice. All the spindles were replaced by JD with the grease fitting ones. In fact, the only thing not replaced was the seat and the tires. I had to put the choke on to engage the deck, otherwise the engine stalled. The free JD hat that was sent to me was the only thing of value with this package. The tractor spent more time at the dealer than mowing. In the end, I finally got out of the jam and sold it for over $2k and bought a used JD gt as an equal $ swap. Almost felt bad about selling it to them. Maybe I'm too picky and the new owner will love it. Lets hope the GT is a better machine for me.

Strengths Powerful, smooth. I have had virtually no problems into my 5th season. I mow 4 acres nearly every week in the summer. Has been great. Change oil once a season and put on new blades. Gator blades and usually put on one new deck belt a year. Traction drive belt is bad right now. First problem with that.

Weaknesses Slow backing. Think drive belt stretches right off the bat. Non-greasable hubs on the deck. Should be able to service transaxle. Plastic grille breaks easily.

Overall Over all fine. Had I had it to do again I'd probably get a Cub Cadet. Have a 1974 Cub that still does fine. Lot better built, but is also a lot better built than new Cubs too. Cub seems to be more tractor for the money as long as it has a Kohlor.

Overall I bought this tractor 8 weeks ago after owning 2 Cubs. I was a little leary of the mower deck which is far less quality than Cubs, and the Briggs and Stratton engine has its own problems long term. But my problem ws when the engine would not start after the 6th week. I had it taken in and they promptly repaired the generator which was faulty from the factory. However they then charged me $110 for pickup and delivery. I live 3 miles from the dealer. They did not care Deere would not cover this under warranty even though it was faulty from the factory. I contacted Deere who is osrry I received a faulty unit from the factory but policy is policy. "Just look in your warranty statement" they said.

Weaknesses Has been nothing but problems since day one. Now at 220 hours, the motor needs to be replaced. I'm going to buy a different brand, rather than fix this one. I have replaced every part on the deck, (several times) except the deck itself. Kohler 23 HP, backfired since I got it too. JD service is awful in South Atlanta. The bagger tub clogs so often it's not worth using.

Overall Buy a JD from their store. Otherwise, you get nothing but problems.

Strengths The L130 is easy to use and the large tires are great.

Weaknesses I have had the L130 for 3years and have put a 140 hours on it and now the Hydro has gone out. (526.00 dollar replacement) Looking on the internet seems like this is a huge problem for the L130. Whether there is a warranty or not dont you think John Deere should honor this huge problem and replace all the bad hydros at there expense. Thinking of going to sears for my next mower. Half the price and will last just as long.
