Strengths Will cute grass in know time
Weaknesses Links oil and it smokes when you start it up.It has always had this problem. I took it to John Deere they said it was fix. Will I don't think it was. I have had this mower for 4 years with 53 hours on it.I have to buy a battery almost every year.( Thats not good)
Overall Will never buy another one.

Strengths the engine runs smooth quiet an smooth cuts good lot of power for towing
Weaknesses paint on deck peels off easily
Overall wouldn't trade it for any other mower john deere is the best!

Strengths Easy to use. Compact. I've have this mower for 4 years now. It has been great so far. It only has 60 hours now so I am concerned about the engine when I get to 100. Just because of other post. Just bought the bagging implement last month and love it.
Weaknesses The battery died after the 1st year. I've just been jumping it off. I'm going to buy a new battery today.

Strengths good mower up till recently

Strengths Green color camouflages the tractor when it breaks down on your lawn. Problems with engine failures produce black smoke - good for keeping mosquitos at bay and slight high. Weak mulching system allows for greater time to achieve a tan. The 1/4 quart of oil I need to add to each gallon of gas allows me to get to strike up a friendship with the guys at the auto parts counter.

Overall I had assumed that a John Deere was the apex tractor in the industry. My engine blew after 100 hours (year two), not covered under warranty. I still use until it blows up (my advice if you have a similar problem is to remove the mulching block off). Whether this might be a green Murray tractor or the blame goes to Briggs for the engine - I bought it from John Deere and will never buy another Deere tractor. What a disappointment.

Strengths Always started fine...yippee!
Weaknesses Bought my machine from a guy going through a divorce and was excited he let it go so cheap. Bought it with 25 hours on it and two seasons later with 93 hours on it, engine lets go! Oil leaked into fuel pump and ruined the valve.
Overall Glad I didn't pay full price at the beginning but now I have after installing a new engine!

Strengths Hope this is int the start of problems. Love my deere but recently it wouldn't start. Dealer picked it up and it needed a battery. Bought this because of the name and quality. Just 1 1/2 yrs old and just 58hrs. Reading all the things that happens to them and my sons blowing a engine at 210 hrs. I,m getting nervous.. Cost me $116.44 for a battery and elect. check if it was done.?? Live in the north so this machine is only used for about 5-6 mo out of the year.
Weaknesses HARD TO BELIEVE JD WOULD PUT A BATTERY IN THERE MACHINES WITH A 90 DAY WARRANTY. CHEAP, CHEAP,
WHAT A SHAME HAD TO USE MY NEIGHBORS SEARS TO CUT MY LAWN AND SHE HAS HAD IT FOR 5YRS + W/NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!!!
Overall SHAME ON YOU JOHN DEERE AND THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR COST THAT WERE DONE WITHOUT CALLING FOR AU-THO!!!!!

Strengths I thought the Name ( John Deere )
Weaknesses 130 Hours and the head gasket blows. Carb had to be replaced be cause of ethenol. Mower deck scalped the yard.
Service was Bad Washington Tractor
Overall I bought it for retirement because of the name. Should have gotten a Sears for less money and a better machine overall. Payed for the Name. Never again. It is FOR SALE

Strengths Well constructed, easy of use, and comfortable. Very attractive tractor
Weaknesses Not happy with gas tank in center under seat- need a funnel to avoid spilling gas

Strengths It starts great and was an adequate product.
Weaknesses Two years plus a bit the motor blew. $1700 for just the motor. I can only imagine the labor will add another $500. That's what I paid for it. I can buy two off brand machines that I know would last longer. Big bucks for an unsatisfactory green machine. Don't believe the hype!!
Overall Borrowed the neighbors' Craftsman to cut the lawn after the Deere blew up. Turns tighter by far, costs less and if I'm not mistaken, it seems better on fuel.
