Purchased From : Dealership
Strengths Easy to use and starts good
Weaknesses Overall very poor. Transmission problems started after 2 months, dealer said not covered under warranty, the next year they had to replace it (under warranty) only because we complained to corp. office. Deck rusted out after only 2 years. I will never buy another John Deere mower. I total waste of $2000.00.
Overall Poor, poor, poor. Waste of money and time. Too much down time and cost.

Strengths Loolllks glllrlooo
Weaknesses Don't know any yet. I keep hearing about transmissions but mine is good so far.
Overall The person complaining about the starting/charging problem needs a valve adjustment. Whenever you're cranking the engine and it seems like a weak battery battery or a slow starter it is usually because the valves are out of adjustment.
The lawn looks great

Strengths Just your average mower.
Weaknesses Since I bought the John Deere Mowerer 2yrs ago. I noticed that when starting the engine hot.The starter would barely turn over. The first season I thought maybe the battery was weak. But now I know it has a poorly designed charging system and starter.Because witha new or used battery you get the same result a mower that either barely starts or sometimes doesn't start.Unfortunatley the local dealer in Lynden Wa where I purchase the mower was unwilling to do anything about it.
Overall The mowerer was overpriced for the quality. I had a Toro riding mower before for 15yrs trouble free before needed some electrical work and later sold it.

Price Paid : $1,999.00
Years of Use : 180-Days
Implements : Dethatcher
Purchased From : Dealer
Strengths PPlenty of power. Starts right up. Great fuel efficiency.lenty of poer
Weaknesses The non-servicable transaxle but,any LT in this price range will will be that way.
Overall Have it for 1/3 acre. mow with Gator blades. Have dethatched twice and aerated with no problem. 18" turning is alot tighter than expected. Great little LT for 2k. The weak link seems to be the tranny but have to spend alot more to move up significantly. Plan on changing to synthetic in the tranny after warranty.

Price Paid : $1,800.00
Years of Use : 30-Days
Implements : dethatcher, trailer, spreader
Purchased From : Lowes
Strengths Great design, comfortable seat. Looks like a tractor that will last a long time Pulls a dethatcher with 50lbs of weight fairly well.
Weaknesses Setup from the dealer wasn't the greatest, but a couple hours with it got it set up just fine. Had a little trouble with a pull behind dethatcher when going up the one slope in my yard...but it is a fairly substantial slope.
Overall Don't forsee any issues with this tractor. I wouldn't use it for anything heavier than dethatching or aerating though...any more strain than that would likely require the 300 series or higher.

Implements : Mulching kit from the 300
Purchased From : John Deere Dealership
Strengths My John Deere dealer had my warranty on the engine go from two years to 4 years when I bought the synthetic oil up front. John Deere lawn and garden tractors look better than anything else out there. The company backs up their product. Very strong engine, the hood really helps reduce the noise of the unit. Great air flow in, compared to a 38" Simplicity tractor I compared it to which was the same price. LED display on service, comfortable seat, seat pulls back enough for my 6'1" size. Nice steering wheel, cuts the grass even. I was able to buy it for no interest of a year. My neighbors with the Simplicity and Craftsman mowers are jealous. V Twin does not work as hard as the 125 engine, so I am hopeful it will last longer. In comparing a lot of tractors, I found that the John Deere even with the 100 Series is better than the rest. Some are very competitive in certain areas, but all around, the features and craftsmanship of the John Deere is the best. Not to mention being able to have it serviced at a John Deere dealership.
Weaknesses The mulching system was disapointing. The smaller blade pushes the grass to the larger blade for mulching. For $70 I purchased the 300 series mulching kit which has both blades do the mulching.
Overall I highly recommend buying John Deere mowers at a dealership. At Lowes they know very little about the product, they won't sevice them, and won't deliver them to your home. My dealer shipped it to my home free of charge, and even spent the time to teach my wife how to use it. I really love this tractor and hope to have over 10 years of great service. Just make sure it's serviced on a regular basis.
This is not the 300 series (durability and strengh is much higher on the 300) like many have said, so I would not recommend using this for a snow blower or any hard work. Keep it to just cutting the grass, and it should last you a long time. Using the spreader attachement would probably be ok too.

Strengths Smooth cutting, exceptional comfort, 22 hp V-Twin motor for power and smoothness. The John Deere name attached for quality, be assured they stand behind it. Great warranty and return policy, if needed.
Weaknesses None at all
Overall This is one sweet lawn tractor. It cuts grass like a 12k golf course mower. Perfectly and precise. Feels heavy duty.
