Strengths fAST, CUTS EVENLY,EASY TO CLEAN UP. STRONG MOWER.

Weaknesses I didn't have any problems. Im a woman who cuts four acres a week at my place.

Overall I give this a 10. Awsome. I wish I didn't have to sell it, but moving away from grass. :) Thanks JD. You made my life a whole lot easier when I had to cut.

Strengths After using an MTD Gardern Tractor for many years, I finally took the plunge and bought the Z425 John Deere from Lowe's. I also ordered it with the Power Flow Bagger for added grass/leaf catching. This set up is awesome. Mower is fast, easy to use and makes mowing very fun. The cut from the mower deck is superb because it lifts the grass up and cuts it evenly. Never experienced that before with my other mower and it gives the yard a professional-looking cut. I can't wait for the fall and all the leaves because with this Power Flow Bagger, there will be nothing it cannot bag. It picked up the summer pine needles out of the lawn with no problem, even (unfortunately) bags the occational toad or two. I really like having the motor in the rear versus the front on tractors. Breathing fresh air is much more enjoyable, than breathing exhaust all day.

Weaknesses Still trying to find a weakness to identify. If I had to pick one, it would be learning how to turn without making (occasional) divots on the lawn. I figured it out after a few tries and the secret is to keep both the wheels turning when you change directions. Now it hasn't been a problem. A John Deere Rep. is suppose to set and check it out at Lowe's before they deliver it to the customer. Mine had this done but the JD rep. missed a disconnected vacuum line, tracking alignment and a nasty wear mark on the rear from the shipping crate. He was suppose to come back and touch it up but he never did. I ended up doing it myself.

Overall The John Deere Z425 is a hard working mower and I believe it will give me years of reliable service. Hell, if i can keep an MTD going for 15 years, the Z425 will be no problem!

Strengths Fast, powerful mower. Mows my 3 acres in half the time of my brand X zero turn.

Overall I have used a variety of mowers over my life. Tractors, zero turns and others. Finally realized one day I never purchased a new mower, only used ones. Deere had low interest financing, so purchased the Z425 with grass/leaf catcher as I have lots of leaves in the fall to deal with. I looked at larger commercial mowers (used), and new Hustlers. The Z425 looks heavier and more well designed than similar Hustler residential models I looked at.

Strengths I purchased this mower the spring of 2010. I had a F525. This mower does better job on mowing along side banks.

Weaknesses The person who built this mower without a gas gauge should be fired. I have ran out of gas three times The F525 would show a flashing ornage light when low. Gave me enough time to get back to the garage. I also would have like lights. In the hot sumner it was nice to mow with the F525 with the sun was down and cooler. Come on John Deere I expected more from you. Even the turning comes with a price if you go to fast because rips up the grass.

Overall I would not buy this mower again. The dealer who sold it to me did not take any time to show me how to operate the mower when I picked it up until I asked him to show me. When I am done mowing my back hurts.

Strengths cut mowing time in half....

Weaknesses started making noises after about 59 hrs took it to dealership and was told it is completely normal and that the machine was running fine. It started running good again and then blew a rod in the motor after 258 hrs... warranty was out and the cost to replace motor was more than half of the original cost. still waiting to hear what can be done about it

Overall This mower did cut the mowing time in half. I had a lot of problems with it after about 60 hrs... I had it to the dealership many times and was told it is running fine... hmmm...

Strengths Speed and quality of cut. Cut my time in half on a 2 acre yard with a fair amount of obstacles.

Weaknesses Pulls a little left when mowing a hill side

Overall This machine is great - I was mowing wiht a craftsman 20 hp 42" cut - which was ok, but slow and hung up in moderatley high grass. I had also cut a few times with a Toro timecutter Z commercial - and the 425 is every bit as good.

Strengths Plenty of power (briggs engine) very even cut. very comfortable seat. easy to drive. dependable.

Weaknesses A little noisy.

Overall excellent machine. Highly recommended.

Strengths Easy to use, lots of power.It does't take long to mow a huge lawn.

Weaknesses The port on the mower deck where the water hose connects could have been more user friendly. Also it should have come with a cap. It will eventually fill with grass cuttings if not covered. For 3895.00 you think John Deere could afford to put a cap on this item.

Overall A wonerful mower. It is actually fun to mow grass.

Overall Very satisfied, z425 with power flow works very well. I deal with 1.5 acres with alot of leaves. The unit saves me alot of time.

Weaknesses the machine wont pull its self up a hill on the left side; calling around I found out that this is a common problem; talking to customer service at john deer is like talking to a fence post.
