Strengths Engine, Power steering, compact size fits in the garage, 3 point hitch, low fuel consumption
Weaknesses None to speak of.
Overall Having owned large lawn tractors from Craftsman to John Deere, this was a large step up in price...but WELL worth the money spent. I mow a 1 acre level lot and a 6 acre rather steep parcel. The first time I used the tractor on the larger plot it was raining and the growth of the old pasture was at least 5 inches tall. The BX1850 went through it with no problems - never bogged down once even going up hill. Amazing! Thinking of adding a FEL for light duty and snow removal.

Implements : 54" MMM, FEL
Purchased From : Dan's Tractor - Battle Ground, WA
Strengths Awesome, Awesome tractor. I can't believe the difference 6x the price makes. We owned a cheap JD L-series for 2 years (since new), and had several issues with it. Transmission, PTO, braking, and deck. All happened around hour 30, and month 24. Finally sold it after extensive repairs with 38 total hours. The BX-1850 is hardly a good comparison - a riding mower vs. a real tractor, but it was an incredible upgrade for us. It runs strong, has excellent dealer support so far, starts right up, great on fuel, and feels like a rock crawler up and around our hills. The hill our mower wouldn't even go up at full throttle can now be mowed to 2.5" uphill in high gear at 2/3 throttle without diff lock or 4x4 engaged. It's a piece of cake! Large, comfortable operating area, nice ergonomic design, well-placed handles. All controls are at your fingertips, not "arm's-reach", so it's easier to operate than most. Fit and finish were superb, everything was spotless. I have to disagree with the one of the reviewers - the power-steering is not "two-finger-easy". One was more than enough.
Weaknesses A minor hydraulic leak right off the bat. Easy to repair. FEL will take some getting used to mounting/unmounting. It's not _quite_ as easy as the manual would have you believe, and mounting is a 5-minute, 2-person job, not the 2-minute single person job the manual touts. Maybe it will get easier with time. The FEL will take much more than rated, truly, but the tractor gets tippy with too much weight. The deck is begging to be stepped on, but we're careful. The digital tach is a great feature, but hidden behind the steering wheel, so you have to lean forward or around the wheel to read it.
Overall Overall, a beautiful, well-built tractor. Delivery and training were a breeze and the salesman was unbelievably helpful. We tried Deere, Case, NH, and settled on the Kubota - an easy choice for features, price, reputation. We would buy another in a heartbeat, if we needed it. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll be buying another for 25+ years. In that sense, they won't see many repeat customers. Go see Skip at Dan's Tractor - you won't be disappointed.

Implements : FEL, 48" MMM, Wheel Weights, Woods 48" Box Scraper, Woods 60" Scraper Blade
Purchased From : Peterman Power Equipment Carlisle, PA
Strengths This is an awesome piece of equipment. I am extremely pleased with the purchase. This tractor will mow my grass, plow snow, groom my driveway, clear and grade land, move material with the FEL... Good design, quality, fit and finish. I decided on the scraper blade as a snow removal implement and have only had the opportunity to use it once so far. In the future I may opt to get a front mounted plow. The smaller size allows for excellent manueverability and the power steering is great. You can easily steer it with two fingers.
Weaknesses This unit is on the small end of the sub-compact/compact tractors. It will do most any job you ask of it but it may take longer than some of the larger units. As others mentioned the headlights are worthless with the FEL attached. Plan on getting work lights. Also plan to use a weight box/counter weight when using the FEL as the unit will become tippy with heavy loads. I use the box scraper as a counter weight and it works well.
Overall Extremely pleased! This unit should last me for the next 25-30 years.

Strengths Great little Machine, love everything about her.
Weaknesses The deck design is lacking. Mine cracked when I stepped onto it several months ago. Still waiting on my dealer to repair it as they have promised to do. Who knows when they will get around to it. Make certain if you are purchasing one of these units that you get one with the newly designed deck on it (look for the 3 ribs on the ft of the fenders where the floor bolts to the fender). Kubota is aware of this issue and covering same under warranty, but the shame of it is that you are at the mercy of the dealership to step up and do the repair. The cost to have them pick up the unit is also not covered by Kubota or the dealer. My unit has less then 28 hours on it and already it's going in for repair.
I am no longer as pleased as I was when I posted previously becasue the dealer is dragging their feet on taking care of this issue..
Overall Overall, I still love the machine, but I am begining to second guess the dealership I choose to do business with.

Implements : Ft Loader, 54" mower, grille guard & rear wheel weights
Purchased From : Stoltzfus Power Equip, Pa
Strengths Just replaced an 18 year old Kubota with this model. She is a strong running machine that gets the lawn cut fast and neat. Loader is easy to operate. This is a solid machine with many well thought out options and features.
Weaknesses The loader handle sticks out a bit on the right making it hard to dismount on that side. Mower deck accumulates grass clippings due to half covers. Roll over bar requires land owner to trim all low branches for clearance (a bit too tall).
Overall Overall very happy with this purchase. Looked at numerous makes/models before making my choice. Already partial to Kubota having owned one for the previous 20 years. Take care of them and they will run forever. Paid $6000 20 years ago for tractor, 44" deck and tiller, sold for $1500 w/1450 hrs on machine. Retains value if properly maintained and cared for.

Implements : 54" mower

Strengths Fit and finish is superb. Every part of this machine is solid & well made. My wife operates it with no problem. I have 2 locations I take care of, about 1.5 miles apart. The BX1850 gets me there in about 11 minutes.
Weaknesses The 2 pedal inline HST "foot direction control" is a little sensative. I'll be back to the dealer to see if it can be dampened. Otherwise, no real weakness I can think of.
Overall This Machine can handle our 1 acre yard, and yet easilly covers our 5 wooded acres. I am dragging with a Harrow, moving our camper and trailers, moving fallen trees, dragging rocks and more with little effort.

Implements : LA203 loader, RCK48 deck
Purchased From : Frederick Equipment
Strengths Price, Versatility, Size, ease of use, easily removeable attachments, strength, comfort, layout, plastic panels absorb impacts, fuel useage is extremely low
Weaknesses Very rough starting in cold weather even with glow plugs.
Overall Very impressed with this machine. I have used so far to clear undergrowth in wooded areas and this machine has no problem getting in over small logs and rocks. Loader lifts well more than the specs indicate. The deck and the mower came off the first time in uder 2 minutes and that's without knowing what I was doing. Extremely strong, and I beleive I'll never get stuck even in the roughest terrain. The 4wd and Diff lock will get you in or out of anything.
