Strengths 2006 L3400DT (gear),with FEL.4 1/2 years and 1550 hours.I use this beast of burden in my one tractor business. Bushhogging, gravel drivewAy work, landscape grading, logs limbs and debris removal, and disking/roto-tilling. It does everything I call on it to do, and I push it very hard. One bearing and gear failure in front wheel assembly at 1400 hrs is the only repair. Burns little fuel and no oil. Still no leaks!
Weaknesses Always been hard to shift to hi range. Lift a little jerky, but strengths make weaknesses go away!
Overall I get about 150% of what it was designed to do. The power/ size ratio lets me work in tight places and still do all I need to do in open spaces. This is my first Kuboa, and at age 71, probably my last but it is a joy to work.

Strengths HP, weight, powersteering, 4wd, hst.
The tractor will do an amazing amount of work, I hind it very servicable, and user friendly.
Weaknesses engaging the PTO---- with the HST it is very easy to forget to push the clutch down before engaging the PTO. Going to have to get used to that.
Overall Well worth the money and it will be a huge labor savor for me out on my small farm. I looked at all the brands but settled on Kubota. Originnally wanted the L2800 but after discussing my needs with the dealer he advised the L3400 because of the added HP, but same physical size. I took his advice and I think it was a wise decission.

Strengths Follow-up to review originally submitted on 4-4-2009. Still very pleased.
Weaknesses I got the industrial tires as a compromise. I had hoped for good traction, with minimal damage to turf when mowing. I would strongly discourage anyone from getting the industrial tires if snow removal is planned. Even in 4WD chains are essential with these tires.
Overall Very pleased.

Strengths With
Weaknesses My Kubota had a jerky three point, but I kept bugging the dealer and after a year and a half, they fixed it. They put in a new valve and now it works fine. There's no tool box so I put an ammo can on the fender and it works great.
Overall I've had the tractor for 3 years and haven't had any problems (but the jerky three point)with it. I wonder how I've done without it all these years. It makes any job around the farm so much easier and faster.

Strengths I have pushed, pulled, scraped, brush hogged, and finish mowed. All without effort and any trouble of any kind. there is not one drop of oil anywhere,I would know because my tractor shed floors are painted. This tractor has performed above and beyond my expectations.I would buy it back in a heartbeat.
Weaknesses lack of a toolbox for this model year, other than that nothing I can really say.
Overall This is just an update,20 months and almost 250 hours later,I still love my Kubota. When I decided to replace my two older tractors,I had been looking at tractors for a long time. Nothing that i had seen compared apples for apples at that time, they still dont.I could have spent more I could have spent less, but I would not have been as pleased as I am with my L3400. For all that read this I hoped that it helped. May everyone have a Merry Christmas and A God Blessed and Happy New Year.

Strengths
Enough power for the size, almost too much power for the weight, very dependable, eats very little fuel, gets around in tight places well.
Weaknesses Very jerky 3 point hydraulics. I wish I had a shuttle shift, was lead to believe that was what I was getting but didn't. The seat don't fit me very well.
Overall Over-all this is a real workhorse and will do the work. Sometimes I ask more than I should but it always does the job. But pay the extra and make sure they send you one with a shuttle shift.

Strengths What can I say, this tractor can do it all. Gas sipper, four gallons of diesel will fill her up. Small enough to get into tight spaces. Thought that the FEL may be to big for the tractor at first but I was wrong.
Weaknesses Jerky 3 point hitch. I have cleared 7 acres of woods with this tractor and the plastic has some holes in it. At times I wish I would have bought the l4400 but I quickly forget about it when I can fit into a small space
Overall For what I paid for this tractor, I could have not bought any other brand for the same money with the same Horsepower. I have to say I have really used this tractor hard and have had no problems. Awesome little tractor.

Implements : LA 463 loader
Purchased From : an Ohio dealer
Strengths Plenty of power. Starts and runs smoothly. Nice size for my property. Loader works nice. Power steering is great. Hydrostat works great.
Weaknesses PTO lever and cable cheap and flimsy. Jerky 3 point hitch (which Kubota doesn t seem to want to fix after 5 years in production). Step is weak. Toolbox is tiny.
Overall Nice overall tractor. Realize that there is probably no perfect tractor. This is my third Kubota. Not too big and not too small for my 11 acres. 3 POINT HITCH PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED BY KUBOTA. Had I known about the 3 point, might have looked at different model.

Implements : finish mower, tiller, post hole digger
Purchased From : Pytash Tractor Sales
Strengths I purchased my L3400 last fall. I currently have only 25 hours on the tractor. My implements include a Befco tiller, a Befco finish mower and a post hole digger. I got the industrial tires. I think they are a smart compromise between the conventional ag. tires and the turf tires, for my purpose anyway. My L3400 has the hydrostatic transmission, with which I am very pleased. I have had no problems of any kind yet.
Weaknesses I can identify only three weaknesses after my limited use of the unit. The first is the lack of a toolbox of any kind. The second is only my opinion and others may disagree. I find the single pedal(forward-backward)awkward. I would prefer two pedals as exist on many hydrostatic units. The third is a little too much plastic around the front of the unit. I anticipate it getting snagged and broken sooner or later.
Overall Everybody that I know who owns a Kubota tractor swears by them. I hope that I have a similar experience. A large part of my decision was the local Kubota dealer (Pytash Tractor Sales). After bad experiences elsewhere, I have found Pytash to be very honest and professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
