Strengths Dependable, strong, ease of operation. I have the manual transmission, 4WD with Kubota FEL (L844?) Starts easily and has done all I have asked of it on my 50 acre mostly woods property. I also do considerable work on a neighboring 6,000 acre wildlife property. Love the tractor. I have had it 2 years now and approximately 200 hours. I maintain a 1000' dirt drive which requires significant material moving, mostly iron ore gravel.red clay which the tractor digs and loads well (must use 4WD). I have no complaint about the rear PTO lever as others have. I also purchased on a 0% for 60 month deal ... probably drove my overall package price up. No complaints on fuel economy here.
Weaknesses As most have stated it is the light weight rear-end and because I use it a lot in the woods I have had to replace the lens on the rear fender lights 3 times ... poor placement/design. Wish it had a higher road speed for traveling these country lanes to work a distant area.
Overall I am very pleased with the tractor. The light weight was expected in the compact package. The power is excellent ... I push up to 8-10" trees over with it (if I get the right bite and find the weak area on the root ball). I pull a 6' brush hog mower easily in overgrown situations. I'd buy the same tractor again but it needs the 4WD.

Strengths Comfortable, Great price for 50hp turbo. FEL is smooth and quick with plenty of lift capacity. Dependable workhorse.
Weaknesses PTO lever is way too small and in an odd location. Diff lock on right side so you can't use foot throttle at the same time. rear is a bit light without the tires loaded. And of course, the toolbox is too small.
Overall Overall It is a great tractor for the price. It has plenty of power, runs smooth and is comfortable for long hours in the seat.

Strengths Good power, starts well in cold weather.Good traction with ag tires.Turns well.Fairly comfortable for long jobs.Light enough to haul well.Fuel consumpsion not bad below 1900-2000 rpm.
Weaknesses Rear lift raises really rough wheather loaded or not.Can not ease rear lift up with load at all.Bad lift on good tractor.
My dealer says that it is the nature of this type lift.
Overall Other than the rear lift I have no real complaints. It is a lot of muscle in a light weight package.

Implements : 6' Heavy duty box blade, shredder, tiller
Purchased From : Texas
Strengths I purchased the MX5100 4X4 new with almost all the accessories the last week of december 2009, wheel weights, canopy, front and rear lights, loader quick hitch, 3 rear remotes, 3rd function loader valve, R-4 tires, swinging draw bar, this tractor is unreal, lots of power, the loader and 3 point can handle just about anything I've put on it round bales, dirt work, great turning radius, flat deck, easy controls, can go in and out of anywhere, have a hydraulic toplink and works great for the pitch of the box blade, or tiller. All sheet metal contruction (hood and fenders) not plastic.
Weaknesses The pto lever is in a bad location, but it's better than having to grind the pto into gear, wish the steering wheel would tilt, rear remote levers are too close together, guzzles fuel bigtime, tool box too small and bad location, R-4 tires are only 6 ply.
Overall This is a very nice tractor, the strengths definately outweigh the weaknesses which are more of a luxury than a necessity. Perfect size for an all around tractor. Financing was 0% at the time, and the dealers won't tell you is that you can buy the interest down to 0%, will save you a couple of hundred dollars in the long run. Also buy at the end of the year, you'll get great discounts and rebates.

Strengths large floor boards
front exaust
suttle shift
Weaknesses The small tool box not enough. An extra must be added.
The cat 2 three point hitch is to much. This tractor is too light, with water in the tires, to handle cat 1 scrapes, plows(2-14), pans, or box blade. It should have cat 1.
My three point hitch backhoe will not fit because the toplink hookup is too far forwards.
The anti-sway chains are week and broke within days of use. Replacements were fabricated while the tractor was under warranty because factor replacement were not seen as worth the trouble to put back on.
The PTO quit after a week. It was fix at no charge to us.
The three point lift arms hit the tires if not tied together.
The selling dealer was not too busy to sell the tractor but was too busy to fix the PTO under warranty.
When the seat is lowered down it hits the high/low shifter and the tractor will not stay in low range.
Fuel efficency is poor.
The drawbar is too short or is set too far in, making it hard to turn sharp while working. This is mostly noted when rakeing hay.
The cable operated PTO shifted is hard to get to.
Overall We use this tractor very little now because of the poor fuel efficency. Not the role the newest tractor should have.

Strengths
I wanted a new tractor (2008) with 50 HP and 4X4 to deal with general outdoor tasks. I wanted dependability. I got a beautiful tractor for a good price, but with unseen problems.
Weaknesses I have the MX5100 in 4X4 with the LA844 loader. It is very front-end heavy. This means that while going down hill with a load the rear tires come off the ground. This means no stearing and no brakes when going down hill. This means a run-away tractor situation. It desperately needs a thousand pounds in the rear end to keep it on the ground. This means water in the rear tires, or else weights. That may save your life.
Overall I would be willing to buy this tractor again, but only if the forward center of gravity problem is solved by the needed weight in the rear end. I would need to be acquainted with and confident in the brakes. I would need to use 4 wheel drive in low gear when going down hill.

Strengths
I needed a 50 HP 4X4 tractor to pull a 7 foot mower for field work. The MX 5100 has all the power I need. I like the R-4 tires and ROPS with canope and loader. I have the gear tranmission and like it. The loader has helped me with tall chores.
Weaknesses The PTO is activated by a lever which is small and not impressive. I had a 3 point hitch defect (wouldn't raise up) which tha factory authorized the repair of. On slopes and in mud the r-4 tires often spin. Traction is poor unless in 4-wheel drive. This thing guzzles diesel.
Overall I am proud to own the machine and I am looking forward to many years of use.

Strengths stron
strong tractor for its size, nice size, easy to operate in tight spaces. large enough for the field but compact enough when you need to get in the woods. very bright headlights. can get a good days work out of a tank of diesel(about 8 hours cont. at 2600rpms) very smooth and easy to operate, fun to drive. the horizontal exhaust pipe is nice when you are in the woods. comfortable operator station and seat ( I am 5'9'' and 200lbs). shuttle shift is very nice when doing a lot of reversing. cup holder is a nice addition. starts very easy in cold weather. the 50 hour service was around $250. this tractor is small enough to haul with a standard size truck (F150 OR 1500). easy under the hood access for maintenance
Weaknesses i wish the fender lights had a steel cage welded around them for protection, if you get in very thick woods limbs and thick hedge can snag them. I had to put one on that tore off, it only cost me about $20. tool box is small which it is on many models.
Overall I have the 2wd model with over a year of use and 100 hours so far and the tractor has been very dependable, absolutely no problems, mechanical or electrical. I own a 75 acre horse farm, about half pasture and half woods with trails. I do lots of pasture cutting(have cut some very thick over-grown fields with no problem or engine lug), and disc food plots for wildlife, drive way and trail maint., all the other general around-the-farm chores. this tractor handles large round bales of hay (2000lbs-2500lbs) for livestock with no problems. have also pulled some old stumps up with it. I was worried that i may need a larger tractor but this one has done everything i have asked so far without a problem, although it is too light for very large farm implements, but that isn't what it is made for anyway. I do have all 4 tires filled with ballast which was done at dealership. overall has been a great tractor for small horse farm and manageing other hunting properties. I look forward to getting frontend loader and other implements

Strengths Delivered mine 08/29/08 just a couple days ago. I would not trade it for 30 of the old tractors I've had. It is a strong tractor so far, and I see no reason why it will not last me a long time. We have a 21 acre gentleman type farm, and there is nothing here it has not been able to do. Got FEL 4WD and ag tires. Almost ready for 50 hr break in service. I'm 5'9" tall and weigh 250, very comfortable. My 11 year old daughter loves running the tractor. She puts out round bales for the livestock.
Weaknesses Needs rear work lites.
Overall Can't say much more. Unless you are a rancher in need of a huge tractor, this is a great tractor. My family has always farmed (small time), heavy equipment (excavation type work, I was running a 550 John Deere dozer with a german tans. at the age of 7) and construction. I not a rancher, but I know my way around a piece of equipment, and this is the tractor for me.
