Strengths Nice ride, good payload, good towing, good on diesel fuel, no maintenance issues, extremely reliable, well built. We previously owned '98 Kaw Mule for 7 years which was inferior.
Weaknesses At the start, transmission was not adjusted properly. It would nearly skid the back tires when foot came off the accelerator, so passengers were taken by surprise. I found internet instructions and adjusted so it is good today. Acceleration has always been and is still terrible. I adjusted to the max, but it still "well not put power to the wheels". It takes 13 seconds to go from 0 to full speed on hard level ground. In 4WD Low it cannot turn the tires on dirt. No lack of power, just lack of hydraulic pressure to the wheels. I have seen reports of some owners with front drive noise and problems, but no problem here - it may not be a heavy duty design so don't engage 4WD unless it is needed!
Overall We have come to like this, even though I hated it nearly immediately after I bought it because of the transmission settings. Have had it 8 yrs and 1100 hrs, so that should tell you something. Be sure to get the "ag" tires, as these have high ply, so are more resistent to punctures, but still I have had to maintain tire sealant in mine.

Strengths Fuel sipper that starts the first time in any weather. This thing is a little brute. Power steering in smooth. The transmission shifts smooth if you release the pressure like the owners manual tells you to. Dump bed is strong and smooth. I never use two wheel mode but it will switch on the fly from two to four wheel drive. The engine brake is a real blessing. I have pulled loaded hay trailers with no problem. Suspension is stiff giving a rough ride but this is not a pleasure vehicle. It is a full out work machine that gets the job done.
Weaknesses Universal joints are not serviceable. Had the dealer replace with zero turn joints with grease zeros. Tires puncture easily so I bought small tractor tires and have not had a flat in two years. I added kubota's turbo and it really woke the unit up. I picked up about 10 mph and I can climb long hills in mid range. Total cost installed by the dealer was $2400 and worth every penny. I am surprised kubota don't put it on all of their units. The seating is stark. It would be nice to have a contoured seat that reclines slightly but no big deal.
Overall This little brute is a real workhorse. With 500 hours on the clock It has done everything I have asked it to do. I got the bed sprayed with rhino lining so saws don't slide around. I have a steel roof and glass windshield. I wired tractor lights high on the windshield and rear facing work lights. I also wired a dash light so i could see the shifter at night. I have allowed most any kid over 12 years old drive it and have never had a problem on the farm once they get used to the engine brake. I will definitely be purchasing the 4 passenger unit soon. in my opinion there is nothing to touch it if you are looking for a work vehicle.

Strengths Very hard to get hurt, because it is not a fast machine.
Never have to use the brakes because of the transmission design. It is a one ton truck great for around the farm..especially with the 3-point hitch by RTV hitchworks that allows us to use it like a compact tractor. The fully welded frame and the ridged axle design makes it a real work horse. And the love hydraulic system is awesome.
Weaknesses Transmission is a little hard to use. but if my four year old shift it just fine, Go figure. could use a litte more HP.
Overall The price of the RTV is about the same as the other brands that i looked at. Proven diesel drive train great on fuel. Very dependable.

Strengths Powerful, smooth running engine. Real hydraulic dump bed (not like the JD Gator cx which is electric and burned out after 5 or 6 uses). Power steering is just right...tight but easy. Great suspension and comfortable seat. The one I got came with a canopy which I didn't really want at first but Im glad I got cause it keeps the beating sun off you and some rain. Good speed range selection. Engine starts immediately.
Weaknesses A little hard sometimes to put in gear. You have to fudge the gas pedal and then wait till it idles back or it will grind. Still, hydrostatic tranny beats torque converter style for this machine. There really should be a guard at the front of the dump bed to keep dirt from overflowing and dropping onto the engine below in the gap....DUMB, KUBOTA!! I'm going to have a local welding place make me an add on panel for it.
Overall Wonderful. We own a JD Gator CX which is a nice little utility vehicle for my wife. I call it the Girly Gator. I call my Kubota the Manly Gator. I havent had it long but I love it so far.

Strengths good on fuel
Weaknesses have two hundred hours on it and have replaced fuel gauge three times. The seats are of cheap plasic and crack and rip....will replace them with some off brand bucket seats. Right front wheel axel went out as well.
Overall overall, I am disappointed in the Kubota 900 RTM. I own several Kubotas. I also own a Z25 zero turn mower that is impossible to start if all of the safety switches are hooked up.

YOU WILL SAVE MANY BUMPS,BRUISES, FUEL, AND WEAR AND TEAR ON YOUR PICKUP AFTER YOU HAVE A RTV!! RIDES LIKE A DREAM COMPARED TO GATOR, RANGER IS SMOOTHER WITH THE 4 WHEEL INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION, BUT FALLS WAY SHORT ON THE HAULING CAPACITY AND STABILITY.IVE BEEN IN THE GATOR AND RANGER, WHAT A JOKE, GATOR HAS NO ROOM AND A DRIVE BELT THAT GETS WET AND YOUR DONE TILL IT DRIES OUT SO DONT DRIVE IT THROUGH THE CREEK AND EXPECT TO COME OUT THE OTHER SIDE ANY TIME SOON!! THE RANGERS BED IS PLASTIC AND VERY SMALL, ITS REALLY NOISY, DRINKS GAS FRY'S DRIVE BELTS!! NOT EVEN IN THE SAME CLASS!! THE HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY BRIGHT AND THE ADDED WORKLIGHTS HELP YOU SEE EVERYTHING. PUT A BEDLINER IN TO HAUL THE ROUGH STUFF (MINERAL TUBS FENCEPOST ETC) AND YOULL SAVE THE PAINT. TAILGATE IS FAR ABOVE THE OTHER MAKES, GATOR HAS CHEESY SPRING LATCHES, THE RTV HAS STURDY CABLES, GOOD LATCHES AND U CAN ACTUALLY SIT ON IT W/O IT BENDING!!BIG ROOMY BENCH SEAT (GATOR HAS NO ROOM AND BUCKET SEATS) YOUR NOT BUYING A SPORTS CAR, YOUR BUYING SOMETHING TO WORK OUT OF, IF YOU CANT PUT THREE GROWN MEN IN THE CAB AND GO BUILD FENCE, WHATS THE POINT!!IF YOU CANT HOOK THE FENCE STRETCHERS TO IT AND PULL WIRE W/O LIFTING THE TIRES OFF THE GROUND, IT AINT NO RTV.CAB HEATER IS PRICY FOR THE FACTORY HEATER BUT ITS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN USING IT YEAR ROUND OR JUST IN THE SUMMER AND HAVING TO WASTE GAS OR DIESEL RUNNING YOUR PICKUP FOR CHORES ALL WINTER!!IF YOUR GONNA SPEND THE MONEY ON THIS RIG, GET IT EQUIPPED THE WAY YOU NEED IT TO DO WHAT YOU PLAN ON DOING!! IF IT DOESNT HAVE THE OPTIONS YOU NEED YOU CANT JUSTIFY LEAVING IT SIT BECAUSE YOU DONT HAVE A HEATER OR A CAB!!SET IT UP RIGHT AND IT WILL BE YOUR GREATEST ASSET ON THE FARM!!THERE IS NO END TO ITS USES, I THOUGHT IT WAS A HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO SPEND, BUT AFTER YOU DO IT YOULL SEE THE TIME AND MONEY SAVING BENEFITS REAL QUICK!! Overall VERY FEW DOWNFALLS TO THIS MACHINE, COMPARE IT TO THE OTHERS, I MEAN GO TALK TO PEOPLE WHO REALLY USE THEM, RIDE WITH THEM IN THE MUD. CHECK CATTLE, WHATEVER, SEE HOW THEY PERFORM IN THE REAL WORLD AND YOUR CHOICE IS EASY! IF YOU WANT A HOT ROD OR A PLAYTOY THATS YOUR BUSINESS, IF YOU WANT SOMETHING THAT WORKS, GET A RTV!

Strengths This thing is a BEAST. To all those people on here complaining about it, they have more money than sense. I farm for a living. Yes I have millions worth of tractors, harvesters, backhoes, bobcats and all that stuff. See each piece of equipment has its own purpose. And my RTV purpose is to get around the farm and do low impact work. WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR. And it does PERFECT. Sounds like some of you people either have to much money and want to bitch and gripe just cause you can. Or you dont have enough money and try use this machine like it is a 100 horse tractor, snow blower, front end loader, and other applications that it is not made specifically to do. Dont take your truck to the Daytona 500 to race and then bitch about losing cause its to slow and factory should have made it 900 horsepower stock.
Weaknesses People/Idiots using it for wrong applications,
Overall Buy one. It does its job. Need backoes, skid steers, loaders, tractors, lawnmowers, snow blowers, sprayers, fourwheelers, mudsling trucks, dump truck, racecar than go buy one and leave the RTV parked.

Strengths Solid machine when compared to other utility vehicles. However, I would be embarrassed to have my name on the machine and promote it to do much work with. I have found it very useful as a runabout machine carrying small loads aroung the farm. I like the braking system and those who do not have not learned to drive the machine. It will stop when the throttle pedal is released and only takes a couple of minutes to learn to release the pedal slowly. Diesel engine is great, never fails to start even in sub zero weather.
Weaknesses Transmission is a very poor design. Difficult to engage front wheel drive. Often times must reverse the machine before going forward after stopping as something appears to lock up. Manufacture representative was not helpful when discussing issues with them. Difficult to service.
Overall With all that is bad I would still recommmend the RTV 900 for certain uses but would research similar machines before purchasing.
