Strengths Very reliable. I use it on 333 acres of steep rocky terrain. It hauls rocks, tows downed timber and will tow and haul loads clearly above rated limits. My altitude is only 1800 feet, so there is no power problem
Weaknesses It took some time to get used to the balky shifting, especially when on a slope. Sometimes I have to shut it off momentarily and then it shifts. Kubota replaced the entire gas tank recently under warranty. Most of the original molded tanks were defective. A little noisy for all day use, but gets the job done. Pay attention to the fluid change intervals. Hydrostatic motor repair is pricy.
Overall Great machine. I looked at all the competition and nothing compared. It was priced about the same as other high end ATVs.

Purchased From : Harry's Kubota Dealer
Strengths It's reliable and strong. Love the power steering and the way it brakes with the transmission-similar to my John Deere 4210 tractor. I haven,t had to touch the brakes once. I have the Kimpex Commander tracks for the heavy snows in Northern Maine. It's like a bulldozer. It's slow but I expected that. Fun to break trail with as the snow flies over the hood. My 6000 pound winch comes in handy when I do get stuck in the mud. Hard to get stuck in the snow with the tracks though. I installed a hand throttle that helps the engine from bogging down on hills.
Weaknesses Same complaints as everyone else. I got a new gas cap and it still leaks from there. I needed to replace the front cv joint and had to buy the joint with the shaft for $270. They do not sell them seperately. So you can't even buy the boot alone either I imagine. Give me more power so I don't look ridiculous going up even small inclines and I could put up with all the other problems. Vibration when idling coming from the drive shaft joint is annoying. I would like to know where a certain individual got a modified joint to eliminate this problem. Where can I purchase a turbo and does it really make a noticeable difference?
Overall I still love the machine for its reliability. It's a true workhorse by all means. The cv joint that I had to replace was my fault however(long story) so the company is not to blame.

Strengths dump bed is great ! it has dumped over 1100 lb load
Weaknesses 4x4 is hard to get in and out , the cab doors have a big issue with them , they will not stay adjusted ,and the 900 just does not have enough ground clearance ! I have had them stuck ! and strongly feel this unit should stay on the asphalt
Overall an old gator 6x4 will go through more stuff than the 900 will

Implements : 2006 Worksite Utility Model (RTV900-T6)
Purchased From : Pauley Equipment, Escondido, CA
Strengths Having the diesel engine and the hydrostatic drive is head and shoulders above dealing with a CVT. It's reliable on trails and has never gotten stuck. It feels solid. The dump bed is useful. The power steering is a godsend in sand or loose terrain. We've run it far in excess of rated towing capacity without any problems. It's a great tool for helping take care of the horses, hauling dirt, and dealing with the fence. The hydraulic accessories work susprisingly well.
It is tractor-based, which is great when it comes to toughness or customization.
The worksite utility model comes with a high-mount air cleaner and a hydraulic reservoir that is much easier to access for maintenance. Maintenance in general is easy to do for these. That's all I've had to do to it, basic maintanance.
Weaknesses With tractor-basing comes tractor quirks and tractor prices. Yes, it is slow. It will slow down on steep grades, although I've never gotten it to stall.
I dread putting fuel in it. You need a strap wrench to take the cap off. The fuel tank is adequately sized, but just plain chitsy in terms of construction. Shifting ranges is finicky, although it gets better with more use. The battery and part of the fuel tank are exposed to hazards. I ordered mine through with the ATV tread tires, because I could tell right off the bat that the worksite tires would not suit my place. I really wish it came with a 2" receiver. Ultimately, I went ahead and built a battery guard. I bought better skid plates in the aftermarket that go over top of the factory plates.
The accessory winch Kubota sells for it is overpriced and underrated. Do yourself a favor and put a Warn RT40 or the Ramsey on it.
Overall Kubota took the term "Utility Vehicle" seriously, perhaps too much so. It's not a speed demon or a rock crawler. The UTV market seems to be segmenting out into slow, heavy, more agrarian vehicles at one end and fast, light, recreation-based ones at the other. Kubota is sticking with their established market, which is not for everyone. For my own use, nothing else comes close to the RTV. I've modified it some, but that's what you do to get tractors to suit your needs.
Kubota has gradually revised the RTV to eliminate or minimize many of the earlier quirks. They desparately need to address the fuel tank issues, but for most the biggest hassle will be the shifter.

Strengths power steering, that's all.
Weaknesses poor quality overall, worthless in mud, poor worksite tires, shifts hard, poorest coldstart of any modern diesel I have, and the slowest, sickest, hillclimber ever made.

Strengths starts good, sturdy, have roped cows and a bull and tied to roll bar and the rtv held them for treating.
Weaknesses air cleaner wrong location. fixed it by connecting a rubber hose to the bottom of the roll bar pipe and cut hole in roll bar pipe and sealed off other end. now we seldom have to clean air clean. Got idea from Mule. needs more power.
Overall quite satified. have over 700 h on it in feedlot and ranch work.
