Strengths Good price and reasonable for what you pay for it

Weaknesses About the only problem I've had with the machine is the main gearshift lever. There is a weak point in it under the floorboard at the point where it attaches to a swivel bracket. This is a 'pivot point' to allow the end of the lever to move a solenoid control into the 4 available gears. The lever itself is slightly over 5/8" with a hole drilled through the middle at the swivel bracket location to attach it to the bracket itself. THIS is the weak point and I have had 2 of these levers to break at this same point. At a replacement cost of around $50, this can get expensive. The solution would seem to be to make the lever out of SQUARE stock rather than a round bar. That would provide additional strength at the point where the lever attaches to the bracket.

Overall Overall this is plenty of tractor for the money and it performs well. I bought mine with a front end loader which has become an almost indispensable asset. The only other implement that I purchased with it was a 5 foot finishing mower. I later bought a 5 foot box blade and a sub-soiler, both of which have been mighty handy.

Strengths For it's size, it is one of the heaviest tractors in it's HP range at 3064 lbs, it has good traction.(Mine has the FEL which adds a litle extra weight.) I like that it has 4WD and Power Steering. It's a deisel, that's a plus. IMO 12 speeds forward and reverse, synchromesh transmission. Steering column is adjustable, forward and back. A higher lift capacity than most smaller tractors, 2075 lbs.

Weaknesses If your over six feet tall, the drivers seat can be a little cramped. Some have referred to this having a "limited" CAT1 3PH. My only issue has been with a post hole digger being too big, and I had to choose a smaller or JR size PHD. It still digs holes just like the bigger tractors do.

Overall Overall the 2004 Mahindra 2310 has turned out to be a good little tractor, and I don't regret at all buying it. It's not a "huge" tractor, I can get it on a 16' double axle trailer with no problems, and go over to a friends house and till his garden for him. It has turned out to be a good size for my small acreage.
