It takes less to refine diesel then it does for regular gas. The only reason that I can come up with for diesel to be more expensive other then the big oil companies lining their pockets is that since it takes less refinement for a single gallon of diesel fuel, that same gallon of diesel fuel refined may produce more then a gallon of regular gasoline. This is just a theory and no one in the oil industry has confirmed this. Sadly when I was young I worked at a fuel distribution facility a learned what a huge scam fuel is. Oh and on that note the 10% ethenal that the fuel companies put in the fuel give you 20% worse fuel economy. If you can find fuel without ethenal in it, use it. It is better for your engine and is much more efficient.
