Strengths Nice Looking!
Weaknesses Where do I start? After one year of living in a garage and cutting the lawn a little bit, the cowl started to rust..keep in mind there was no scratchs etc..contacted TroyBilt Cust Service..yeah that was fun..Basically they said that this couldnt happen because of the steps they took to paint it..I even took pics and sent them to them! When I purchased this from Lowes, I specifically asked for a snow plow..and I got one ($350.00) They promised it would be OK with the snow we get..TroyBilt Factory Rep also said it would be ok for snow only...yeah right,,Moral of the story..Over $2000.00 spent on this tractor and I would have been better off putting more with it and buying something else! and that is just the beginning...Thats after 1 year!
Overall I wouldnt recommend this tractor to anyone and I certainly would think twice about what the Lowes Sales person says about them..Keep in mind i spend alot of money at Lowes..and they lost my business because of this also, because they promised that this equipment would do what I asked of it...we had one snow storm of 3" and it couldnt handle that!

Strengths After two years of use, I really have no use for the Troy-bilt Horse.
Weaknesses Ground speed, very slow. pulling a yard cart with two fifty pound of soil up a gentle incline, act like the transmission is slipping, eats belts, just replaced a deck belt three weeks ago used it to cut my yard two weeks ago and it ate the belt today. Hard to steer. shifter needs to be longer or in a different location.
Overall Overall this tractor is a peice of junk and I would not recommend this to anyone. I am going to junk it because I really don't want anyone else to go through what I have went through.

Strengths Nice hydrostatic when it works. Comfortable and handles nicely.
Weaknesses When it was delivered it wouldn't start. Lowe's came back and found a setting with a screw that holds the ignition switch inplace was misaligned, and fixed it and now it run. Then after 6 hours of use the transmission went out. Lowe's is taking it back, and I'm getting a John Deere.
Overall Not reliable

Strengths Relatively inexpensive
Weaknesses This tractor is in the shop more than my Chevy truck. I'm saying that literally. I have spent about $750 over the last 4 years on this monster in 'maintenance'. That's just a bit under what I have paid in maintenance on my truck for the same period. I expect more out of a $2000 purchase

Strengths Really nice cut. Level and smooth
Weaknesses Where to begin, This tractor was purchased new from Lowes and had 30 hours when the transmission failed. I got a line on a 1989 JD 318, and quickly sold the Troy Bilt. I actually was relieved to sell it fast and for only 100 less than I paid.
Overall Really sorry excuse for a tractor.

Decent power,cuts 1 acre well,looks sturdy
Weaknesses Sump gasket replaced, major oil leaks
eats belts, variable speed pulley wore out,shifts hard,
front wheels fell off

Overall Dealer rep keeps telling me my yard in too rough, I though a tractor should be able to mow over a few bumps.

Strengths Motor has not given any trouble yet.
Weaknesses Front wheel falls off in sharp turns. Transmission has already failed. I would not recommend this lawn tractor.
Overall Extremely poor quality for a lawn tractor at any price.

Strengths Great tractor for the price.
Weaknesses It cannot mow in reverse. Slower compared to a John Deere, but I'm not racing anybody.
Overall Good strong tractor - I only use it to mow 2 acres with, but happy so far. I've had to adjust the mow deck already, but I've got a bumpy yard.
