Price Paid : $999.00
Years of Use : Test Drive
Implements : Utility dump trailer
Purchased From : Lowes
Strengths Price, features for the money, construction seemed on par or better than other "cheap" mowers.Tighter turning than my old Toro 38XL.Adjustable seat.Allows mowing in reverse.Great ground speed and mows well.
Got a free $100 10 cu feet dump cart with it that ive yet to put together ;)
Weaknesses No hydrostatic trans but "Shift N Go" is a decent compromise with 7 speeds (still need to depress clutch some to downshift). No anti scalping wheels on deck.To mow in reverse requires turning the key to a "special" mode and then hitting the orange button.
Filler for fuel tank could be higher up.Use a funnel!
Overall I narrowed it down between this one and a lower end Craftsman LT1000.Two local Sears stores didnt have the hydrostat model advertised for around $1130.00.The 6 speed model Sears ($995) requires a full stop to change any gear speed (up or down) and didnt seem to offer any other features over the Troy Bilt otherwise.
